i believe the speaker of the house doesn't even have to be a current congressman. Levin talked about it some months ago. But I’m not sure if you can be a senator and speaker of the house.Seems to be a double dip there.

My point was that the senator would not be likely to give up his six-year tenure for a two-year tenure as Speaker. I should have said so.
