i believe the speaker of the house doesn't even have to be a current congressman. Levin talked about it some months ago. But I’m not sure if you can be a senator and speaker of the house.Seems to be a double dip there.

Yes, I am aware that there is no Constitutional requirement for anyone to be the Speaker of the House. My point was that the senator would not be likely to give up his six-year tenure for a two-year tenure as Speaker. I should have said so.
