David H. Petraeuss Rules for Living appeared on The Daily Beast Web site on Monday, posted by his biographer, a fellow West Point graduate 20 years his junior named Paula Broadwell. The fifth rule, beneath his familiar portrait in full military regalia, began: We all make mistakes. The key is to recognize them and admit them.
Mr. Petraeus took his own advice on Friday and resigned as director of the Central Intelligence Agency after admitting to an extramarital affair; officials identified the woman in question as Ms. Broadwell. The full back story is not yet clear, though his affair came to light after F.B.I. agents conducting a criminal investigation into possible security breaches examined his computer e-mails. The decision to step down was his.
Few imagined that such a dazzling career would have so tawdry and so sudden a collapse. Mr. Petraeus, a slender fitness fanatic, is known as a brainy ascetic. He and his wife, Holly, whose father was the superintendent at West Point when Mr. Petraeus graduated in 1974, and their two grown children had long been viewed by military families as an inspiration, a model for making a marriage work despite the separation and hardship of long deployments overseas.
After he began the C.I.A. job in September 2011, the couple settled into a house in the Virginia suburbs and began the closest thing to a normal life together that they had had in years, even if the basement he had designated for a home gym was commandeered for secure C.I.A. communications gear.
After years in war zones, Mr. Petraeus told friends, he was amazed to eat dinner most nights with his wife and to discover weekends again. He told friends that on the day his daughter was married last month, he went for a 34-mile bike ride.

Something stinks to high heaven with all of this maybe in 50 to 100 years we may find out the truth if the USA is ever reincarnate as a once awesome country
Such a sad situation. Though unfortuantely, not uncommon.
Sex, sex, sex —it’s mostly BS and it’s all salacious stuff designed to throw the dog off the true scent of Bengazi, MANPADs and Al Qaeda.
At one time the rumor was Petreus was going 2b Mitten’s VP nominee —THAT is why the Chicago machine originally went onto a war footing, digging up any dirt for release right before the election, in case he was on the ticket.
But then he wasn’t and as the full treachery of Bengazi came to light they needed a stick to beat Petreus back onto the “Videotape and CIA mucked it all up!”-narrative.
They want you to think the FBI started investigating after she started threatening other women out of simply JEALOUSY?
Oh please..!!!!
Could it be THAT simple with THIS administration? You’d have to be OUT OF YOUR MIND.

And some one told Mittens to stfu regarding voter fraud too
Key lesson: lay down with mangy dogs, you get up with lots of fleas.
He didn’t need the NYT to ruin his career
Will no one who is in “power” stand up to this BS?
Don’t rush to judgement yet, because I believe the general has already sold out to politics. I can’t believe a man with honor would have sit by and done nothing on Benghazi. He is as corrupt as this administration. His “living the dream” comment sort of say’s it all. He retired as general and left Duty, Honor And country behind for political gains. Sorry, but I see his as a Colin Powell, the affirmative action general and a closet democrat.
He took charge of the blackmail. He had made mistakes and it was being used against him. He is now free to tell all to Congress.
And the Benghazi counts continues to mount, so far two four stars and one admiral...wondering who’s next. Anyone who takes this at face value (as presented by the MSM) is very naive.
amen
If Romney had selected this dope to be his running mate, his loss would have been even more strongly justified.
Yep. Thankfully, West has the guts to fight and whether he wins or loses, he's proven how much voter fraud was going on and which side were the cheaters. Not that anything will be done.
As for Betrayus, if it's true, and I believe it is, this probably wasn't his first daliance. Hussein's admin knew this and gave him the position with this knowledge to blackmail him with when the time came. The Clintons had the FBI do their dirty work and it's been revved up with this admin.
Drudge is reporting that Clinton will not be available for testifying on Benghazi either.
David H. Petraeus = semper bullshit
“Such a sad situation. Though unfortuantely, not uncommon.”
I think that pretty much sums up the situation.
