At 4:45 a.m. today, after 21-hours of non-stop ballot copying and counting, Democratic candidate Patrick Murphy defeated Republican U.S. Rep. Allen West for the District 18 congressional seat.
The final tally — still considered unofficial — put Murphy ahead of West by 2,429 votes. Overall, Murphy captured 166,799 votes to West’s 164,370 in District 18, which spans portions of Martin, St. Lucie and Palm Beach counties. An automatic recount is triggered by a margin of 0.5 percent. Murphy’s lead gives him a .7 percent advantage. All ballots in Martin and St. Lucie counties have been counted.

Most of ‘em will probably just grin and keep calling it a wonderful *recovery*. It’ll be righteous retribution, but they’re do dumbed-down that they’ll never fully know what hit them.
That is a plausible explanation BUT, the focus on us looking at their own County report which is misleading, the Election Head’s reaction (she has no idea), and that no other county has a report like that tallied on their Nov 7th results, that “we” are somehow to blame by spreading disinformation, gets me cranky. The darn County has misinformation on their own site, without explanation from the site, or the Elections head.
Regardless, I’m glad their appears to be an explanation BUT I’m glad Col West is asking for a recount.
I’m also sad that the reverse-racism is rampant, double standard, and not called out.

It’s awful strange that all of Nate Silver’s predictions were right on the nose.
We’ll see as it all reaches the full light of day and it will. Some of the comments the Clerk made didn’t make sense or either she just didn’t know and that is sad if she didn’t understand. And because of that there is room for something to be screwed up bigtime. We’ll see as this unfolds. Take care, life will go on.

if she didn’t know, my God. she’s in charge of that whole county. if i were elections director and i’m sure before tonight they’ve generated practice reports prior, but i would know every inch of it. some one is getting lazy at the Elections dept. in that County.
i saw that the numbers could be halved, last night. i saw the first few pages of the report. but the first two didn’t make sense. after snow’s response, i re-posted so all knew. i don’t take kindly to be accused of some as spreading disinformation (uh, county report, first two pages), and essentially being told i didn’t look “hard enough”. geez
residents of that County sure aren’t being served well if darn near every other Florida County can handle 2-4 pages of ballots without 160% turnout report on there summaries. didn’t find a one.
i’m tired of taxpayer funded employees that don’t do their jobs when others, like me, would jump at the chance to get a job.
