I don’t know why everyone’s so down on Boehner. Look at the debacle that took place for the GOP on Election Day, and realize that he’s the only prominent Republican in Washington who still had his job when he woke up on Wednesday.

Almost every time Boehner opens his mouth he demonstrates why he should not be Speaker. He has no business at all blabbering away about giving up on repeal of Obamacare, and especially not saying that immigration reform is a priority.

Those are issues to be decided by the Republican House members as a whole, and not anything to be dictated by a speaker or any other member. All he’s doing is showing what a coward he is and how easily he caves at the first opportunity after the election. Republicans in the House don’t have to go along with any of that and he should keep his mouth shut if that’s all he knows to say.

That’s an interesting theory. Wouldn’t it have been easier for them to give up control of the Senate? For that matter, didn’t they blame Republicans anyway back in 2009-10 when the Democrats controlled the White House and both Houses of Congress for two years?

We wouldn’t have to bash Crybaby Boehner if he would get a spine and stand up to Obama. May I remind you, Obama is not king and the GOP still is the majority in the House which is the chamber that is supposed to represent the will of the people.
If the will of the GOP is to cave on everything, as they always do, then I would much rather put candidates against them and the Democrats in an election, not just run against them in primaries.

I agree. Do nothing. Let all the Bush tax cuts expire. Let the young people who have been working with these tax cuts their whole life see what they would have to pay without Bush. Let all the gays who wanted to be married start paying the marriage penalty.

Let the cuts go into effect and the taxes go up and every House member needs to get o n TV and say that this is what Obama had planned.

During that interview, the Speaker Boehner also told Sawyer that comprehensive immigration reform is a top priority in his legislative agenda during the next Congress. Republicans within his conference, like Rep. John Fleming, were livid.
“I'm concerned that Speaker Boehner is getting ahead of House Republicans when he commits to getting a ‘comprehensive approach’ to immigration taken care of ‘once and for all.’ There's been zero discussion of this issue within the conference, and I'm urging the Speaker to talk with House Republicans before making pledges on the national news,” Fleming, R-La., blasted in a statement. “The Speaker needs to pull back on this issue and stop negotiating in public.”

Doesn't the next congress get to vote to choose their leadership in January? Boehner should have booted back in 2009 as I said at the time, better now than never.

Any member of Congress who agrees to such a compromise with reality has disqualified themselves from office.
