Obama wins Fla., topping Romney in final tally

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) -- President Barack Obama was declared the winner of Florida's 29 electoral votes Saturday, ending a four-day count with a razor-thin margin that narrowly avoided an automatic recount that would have brought back memories of 2000.

No matter the outcome, Obama had already clinched re-election and now has 332 electoral votes to Romney's 206.

The Florida Secretary of State's Office said that with almost 100 percent of the vote counted, Obama led Republican challenger Mitt Romney 50 percent to 49.1 percent, a difference of about 74,000 votes. That was over the half-percent margin where a computer recount would have been automatically ordered unless Romney had waived it.

There is a Nov. 16 deadline for overseas and military ballots, but under Florida law, recounts are based on Saturday's results. Only a handful of overseas and military ballots are believed to remain outstanding.

It's normal for election supervisors in Florida and other states to spend days after any election counting absentee, provisional, military and overseas ballots. Usually, though, the election has already been called on election night or soon after because the winner's margin is beyond reach.

There is no way to perpetrate fraud on the scale described w/o being found out. Hundreds, if not thousands, would have to be in on the conspiracy. Do you think you could keep than many dims from bragging?

All these grand conspiracies fall apart when you start lookig as to what would actually be required to carry them out. Ergo 0bama won the ‘12 election, 9/11 was not an inside job, Diebold machines did not give OH to W in ‘04,we really did go to the moon, Oswald acted alone, and dinosaurs existed.

And while we’re at it, let’s get rid of early voting and establish Voter ID requirements.

Hundreds and thousands do not have to conspire.

All that is required is corrupt election officials.

Some were tweeting about their multiple votes on Election day.
Time will tell for the rest of them.

A no win situation.

A presidential bid by any one of the founding fathers would have ended similarly.

0bama is but a symptom of the greater problem which is societal decay.

The only positive is that when the collapse comes and we go the way of Greece, the guy most responsible for it will still occupy the White House.

You don’t have to unregister. We won’t be winning again. The only hope anyone could beat a democrat is if you offer the freebies and one up it with a free car or tv set.

Dems will not have to cheat anymore. Amnesty will take care of that.

I’m sure some people did vote a few times. It wouldn’t be enough to tip the scale with the numbers that we are looking at.

"I am unregistering to vote....I will never vote again.....I am done".

Since you're making the coward's choice to run rather than to fight, I'm making a note of your handle and if you post again in the future with whining and complaints I'll be right there to announce that you don't care enough about saving our country to even vote.

However, I suggest that after you cool off for a while you may look at things with a different perspective and join the thin red line that will be trying to hold things together in this beautiful land of ours.

What did the third-party vote amount to?

In Florida?

Libertarian

Johnson / Gray 44,684 0.53%

Objectivist

Stevens / Link 3,855 0.05%

Constitution Party

Goode / Clymer 2,602 0.03%

Those are the "right" leaning third parties. I won't bother pasting the Green Party and Rosanne Barr results because they wouldn't have gone to Romney, obviously. The right leaning third party votes weren't enough to swing the election. Florida, 2012

Gee... How convenient. They won by just enough to avoid a recount. What a coincidence...

Reminds me of elections in Communist countries with one party.

Pages 1 and 2 of the document list “cards counted”, which resulted in the abnormal-looking 141% “turnout.” Those numbers appear that way because it’s an automated process - every time a ballot was fed into the scanning machine, it is recorded as a “card counted”

The rest of the report, where votes for individual races were recorded, looks much more normal - in the neighborhood of 70% turnout. For example, if you look at page 4 of the report, you’ll see that out of 175,554 registered voters, there were 123,591 votes counted for President/Vice-President (equalling a turnout of ~70.4%). This is, of course, consistent with the point that the 140% “turnout” reflected the fact, because of the length of the ballot, there were two different ballots issued to each voter. 70% turnout * 2 ballots = 140% “turnout” (where “turnout” = ballots/voters)

Dear God help us. The Suffolk pollster was wrong...wrong...wrong.
to anyone that missed..

Original title: Suffolk pollster: We’re not polling Florida, Virginia, or North Carolina anymore, because Romney’s going to win them

Actually the red line isn’t even all that thin. Its main problem here is that it did not speak loudly enough on Tuesday. So the answer going forward (not Forward(TM) but forward) surely isn’t to just sit down and shut up!

I still have reason to believe that a hypothetical accurate (it would have to be mandatory) plebiscite in all or almost all states that narrowly flipped to Barack would have gone comfortably to Mitt.

Did you watch the video of the guy who said those machines can be rigged to change things to whatever you want. He could engineer a perfect 50%/48% election and poll workers would never know it.

I watched another guy on Fox a couple years ago that was showing how you could even give voters a printout of their vote, but that would not be what the machine did.

I believe this is why the push for electronic no paper trail voting.

Even with ALL the fraud, Zero STILL finished with EIGHT MILLION fewer votes than 2008. He does NOT have a ‘mandate’.

Somewhere Al Gore is weeping.

I think the Dims decided that they would not be put in this position again, and put together a huge voter fraud machine/process, and just rolled it in force for this election. I also think it was tested at a smaller scale in 2008...

It will be impossible to ever have an honest election again, without massive changes in the voting process. And we all know the likelyhood of those changes being implemented...

Some psephologists (scientists in the art of voting) have suggested a system whereby citizens would get receipts that they could trace back into the body of tallied votes at any reasonable time after an official tally was announced. And if it was different, they could file a complaint, presenting their receipt.
