Oregons economy retreated in September, dampened by one of the sharpest monthly jobs losses since the recession.
A University of Oregon gauge that tracks the states economic activity edged down to a reading of 0.66, meaning the state is expanding slower than its normal pace since 1990.

I live in one of the bluest counties in OR. I’ only too happy to let the leftists reap the consequences of their stupidity. That being said, the down side to this is we won’t be able to sell our house. I’m ready to move - to a red state or even go all the way ex-pat. But my mortgage is paid off & I’m not willing to just lose everything we’ve put in to it.
There are many conservative Oregonians. Unfortunately, in 2000, the Gov vetoed the redistricting plan created by Republicans. It was gerrymandered by the crooked, liberal Sec of State. That gerrymandering eliminated most Republican districts by splintering liberal cities into those districts.
I always thought it would be great to live and work in Vancouver WA, pay no income tax, then go across to OR to shop and pay no sales tax. I used to drive to OR from CA to visit my daughter and load up on necessities which were cheaper and no sales tax.
Now I bet if you split Oregon in two (West and East Oregon), I bet the state of East Oregon would be inviting businesses in with low taxes.
Oregon voted for it since their love for King Obama and his communists Administration told them he will fix everything and you will live in Utopia.
I see the Oregonian has a series on Oregon’s job recovery.
They need to follow that up with a series on unicorn hunting and fairy watching.
Very hard to pick the fly shit out of the black pepper.
Lane Cty is very rat dominated:
Obozo got 95,143 votes or 59.63%
Romney got 58,629 votes or 36.75%
I have a friend, who moved up from Orange county after he retired to be near his daughter and lives a little west of Eugene. He could have been a concert pianist and his wife is a good artist. So at first they were welcomed into the elite college oriented artsy/fartsy crowd.
When the elite rat artsy/fartsy scum find out that he worked for an evil corporation until retirement, and he is a card carrying Republican, they get shunned like a bad Amish.
His wife, daughter and SIL have banned him from even mentioning that he is a republican.
His truck and car were keyed and egged in the 2008 election because he had McCain stickers on them.
We talk on the phone about twice a month, and he jokes that he needs to pay me as his shrink.
I can see where that would happen. I am a member of a co-op gallery. I am a Southerner and not a big fan of the Republican party (though I am very conservative). I haven’t engaged in much discussion, nor do most of the gallery members. They generally make the assumption that you agree with progressive/liberal ideas...and most of them do! I am always polite and civil. There is perhaps one other (out of a couple dozen) who is an actual Republican. Perhaps as a Libertarian, I am viewed as harmless or silly. I don’t know! I don’t worry about it a lot.
My husband is retired military. No one has been mean to me about that and they all know. It was on my application and they voted me in.
It is wise to not engage in discussions if at all possible in that environment. I was drawn in with one person who is very much an activist, but she not inflammatory or mean and we do agree on a few things.
I get in more trouble talking about football (Roll Tide!) than politics.

You might consider putting up an ad on your FR home page listing the county and conservative area you live in.
Maybe some conservative in California with no school age kids, in a CA city/county where the property value hasn’t collapsed might be glad to move to a conservative area of Oregone.
Personally, I would love to see the State of Jefferson idea/concept reborn and put into action.

You may be lucky. I posted years ago about a couple who grew tired of the liberalizing of California, and they knew we had vacationed a lot with ason living in Oregone, at one time we had two sons there, (none now).
The friend was a retired combat marine and put in 25 years of law enforcement here after his corp service and retired. She was a medical office manager, and both were devout Christians.
For some reason they were keyed in on Ashland and Eugene. We tried to warn them about the liberalism in those two left wing hell holes.
Being a Jarhead, he had to find out himself. He came close to getting into a fight with his Ashland lesbo realtor and left that area after about 4 hours instead of a couple of days and went to Eugene. The Eugene area lasted less than a dinner hour. They were in their Suburban with Bush/Cheney stickers at a fast food franchise.
Some idiots tried to harass them as they got out of their Surburban. Only idiots would try to harass a combat Marine and a wife who was a jock her entire life.
I get a cell call from them after they got their takeout meals and left wonderful Eugene. I told them to spend the night at Grants Pass.
Then, I called a flyfishing friend, who had a relative in real estate in the Medford area. He gave the realtor my phone number, I got a call from her. I explained the situation to her, and she laughed. She said, she had a new community east of Medford that should work. I got her number and called our friends.
They called the Medford realtor and met her the next morning. They found a couple of communities, they liked and really like the new one. They bought a home that wasn’t finished yet, so when it was, they had the exterior/interior the way they wanted it.
They loved the area and got used to snow just east of them.
Their church opened a new one church in the area.
They were concerned after the 2008 election, but their county and area actually had less votes for Obozo this election.
I think that is a beautiful area, and probably less humid than where we are.
I am working on my Christmas art, which has a very obvious thread of faith. I don’t anticipate any problems, but if i ever have any at all, it will come within the next week or see when “Christmas” goes up.
I have a friend who works at the unemployment office. They are swamped and can’t keep up with new claims. For the single week ending Nov 3rd, they paid out $24,785,060 in unemployment benefits. Welcome to Obama’s 2nd recession.
