Campaign Sources: The Romney Campaign was a Consultant Con Job
Red State ^ | November 9, 2012 | Ben Howe

If you spend your time watching politics and haven’t been hiding in a deep depression since Tuesday, you’ve probably been hearing a lot about “ORCA.” According to the Washington Post, ORCA “was designed as a first-of-its-kind tool to employ smartphones to mobilize voters, allowing them to microtarget which of their supporters had gone to the polls.”

There is now widespread condemnation of the program as being sloppy and poorly deployed.

They didn’t want Palin to speak at the convention. Seems like these consultants may be driving wedges between party leaders/loyalists.

Did Reagan need a consultant?

I don’t know if Reagan had a consultant, but the tone of politics has gotten worse since the 80s. They mocked Reagan, but it has become vicious now. They should reduce reliance on consultants and listen to real experience from party leaders and those loyal to their party. They should be carefully screened.

I have decided that they don’t know anymore than we do. It’s all pure speculation and I can speculate as well as Rove. No one can read the future and that’s that.

It doesn’t even have to involve non-Rat voters at all, just the Rats, and none of them are going to Rat any of the other Rats out.

There has to be a way to quarantine the fraud and one way of doing that is to sequester the voting lists so that nobody gets to see who has voted and who hasn’t until the polls close.

I wonder how many of those "strategists" and "consultants" are actually Democrats?

Exactly what I was thinking. Not just "no loyalty to Romney), but actual 100% loyalty to Demoncraps. In other words, SABOTAGE.

Makes me glad I didn’t donate any money to the campaign!

It would have been better than what we got. Besides, a smart man can make changes to the playbook as necessary.

Obama had a failed record. That failure could have been handled better for sure. However, Romney never laid out the choice like Reagan did. He didn't explain how Obama’s policies made the economy worse, and how he could have done it better.

People didn't feel that Obama had succeeded, but they weren't really convinced that Romney could do better.

Obama was able to successfully claim that he had the worst situation anyone ever faced since FDR. That was not true. It should have been challenged, proved false, and how Reagan style policies would have been better and could have good results.

I do believe in the end, many voted for the “Devil They Know.” I predicted long ago Obama would win precisely because of that.

Lotta truth there for sure. Ya gotta give them a lot to believe in before they are willing to take the leap.

well, Rove was not far off vis-a-vis Ohio

the popular vote difference was all of 0.2%; 50.1 to 49.9, or in the neighborhood of just 10K votes I think; and I don’t know what % of precints were reported when Rove made his comment, but if he thought the % of precints reported was still early, it may not have been unreasonable, in a race - Ohio - that really was close, to think there was still another 10,000 vote difference Romney’s way in the remaining precincts

“Why don’t these Morons use a Guy like Dick Morris?”

he was no better when it comes to the polls and what he thought of them; he was in agreement with all the overconfident polls

Fact is GOP voters should not have to be contacted to vote PERIOD

You know, you and others voicing the same sentiment are completely absolutely correct. You are right about this; HOWEVER...

Obama should never have been elected in the first place let alone reelected. That is another thing we can all agree on -we as well are right about this; HOWEVER AGAIN...

It does not matter how right we are -it matters how effective we are!

The left bussed people in and took advantage of early voting to get warm bodies into the polls; we hoped because we were right -TET they won!

DUH!!!! It is pretty hard to beat a community organizer at his own game ESPECIALLY if we do not even try...

YUP -you are right, SO WHAT!!!!

Karl Rove- the architect of Defeat.

It is funny that RINO Rove had no problem energizing the base by campaigning on vales, e.g. homosexual marriage, when his guy ran for office. IT IS ALL ABOUT THE POWER -RINO's want it and want to keep it away from truly conservative leadership.

I know! Where is our side’s version of Nate Silver? Not only do we not have a Republican party who understands the electorate, we don’t have conservative media types who under stand it either.

But, here’s the thing. Somewhere around 93 million voters did not vote. If the Romney campaign could find and convince 5% of them to vote for Romney, Michelle would be doing the crying.

They are going to go out and drag people who live under a rock and don’t know it’s election day to the polls?

In a lot of cases, yes. In even more cases it's members of the 100 million or so who aren't motivated to vote, that they drag to the polls, but if you can get 5 million of those to the booth, usually you win.

Fact is, they need to be contacted. People LIKE TO BE contacted. Makes them feel like they matter. “Need a ride to the polls little old lady?” “Thank you, sonny.” There is no substitute for door knocking and human contact.
