CIA Director David Petraeus resigned over an extramarital affair, according to a letter he sent to CIA staff. The news was confirmed by Press Secretary Jay Carney in a briefing this afternoon.
Slate's Fred Kaplan quickly reported that the affair was with Paula Broadwell Gen. Petraeus' biographer who was embedded with him in Afghanistan. Now, NBC is reporting that the FBI has been investigating Broadwell, fearing that she had access to some confidential information.

It's not illegal if the President does it. (I've heard that somewhere before).
I know how you feel. I cried Tuesday and Wednesday, as well. I remember feeling like this when Clinton was elected...as if I was in some type of fog...I literally did not want to get out of bed...this election was much, much worse. I think I’m finally beginning to get out of the crying phase of the mourning, and now I’m in the middle of the “whining” phase. Then hopefully, “chin up”, “shoulders squared”, and march forward (no - not Obummer’s forward, either)...Our country is SO worth it. (ain’t gonna be easy, though!) Tough, tough, times ahead. And now, having an 8-month old grandson puts a whole new dimension and outlook to things. I babysat him today, and I just kept thinking about what it will very be like for him...not the country I recognize, that’s for sure.

Uhhh, yes, more than likely .. but I’ve no idea what that has to do with my post above ?!

Who knew it was easier to gain access to the soil in Peatraeus’ shorts than soil of Benghazi.
You're right. Mitch Rapp wouldn't have done that.
Or would he? Bond, James Bond, would have.
Special Report brought that up. If that is true Obama is in deep trouble. Politics above National Security.
I have a different take on what sort of deal Petraeus may have struck. I say he threatened to resign BEFORE the election unless Obama agreed to go easy on his paramour. Info on Benghazi was the coin Petraeus held to make sure his leverage remained post-election. Just a guess.
“I dont get it....How does this get him out of testifying about Benghazi?”
It shouldn’t but in national politics resigning apparently makes you immune. Pigsley, if you and I were running a solar panel company and were accused of stealing a half billion, resigning would NOT get us out of that first meeting with a judge.
But if a politician resigns, especially a dem politician, apparently he’s off the hook. When I’m in charge that will change believe me.
Never went through the whining stage. I went right to the I hate everything and everyone stage. Now am at stage of growling, snarling, and sulking mixed with intermittent spells of maniacal screeching, like Howard Dean then collapsing into a heap, waiting for blood pressure to fall. The psychiatrist story Drudge posted a day or so ago about post-election depression was right but I thought it would damn sure be the other guys that would experience it.
So, giving information to our press is treasonous? What are you saying about our press?
“”He fell on his sword for Obama.””
He was a fool to accept the post at CIA to begin with. That day is when I crossed him out of the “honorable” military men category! He showed what he was then. zero hooked him and reeled him in and he was only too happy to go along with “the enemy.” Zero needed him to kiss his patootie and he obliged!
If not the Rooskies or the Chicoms or the Pakitanis, etc., etc.
Sounds like blackmail to me....The CEO of Lockheed Martin resigned today too....citing he had an xtra martial affair hmmmmmmmmm...Lockheed martin layed off alot of people...which by law requires a 60 day notice...but Obama waived that law..sooooooo on Nov 1st alot of people were layed off ,but not reported till today.....
Exactly, and if he testifies, he can tell the truth, what are they going to do? Fire him?
Panetta a very old man and he is retiring isn’t he ?
No revenge possible on him.
Yeah i guess he was “all in”..
As a private citizen he can’t talk about classified matters unless the CIA (under new management) explicitly vet everything he says.
