(CNN) - Former GOP presidential candidate Rick Santorum offered no insight into his own political future in a Friday CNN interview, but did offer his thoughts as to why the Republican nominee lost to President Barack Obama on Tuesday.
"What Mitt Romney, in my opinion, didn't do was go out and vigorously defend the beliefs that he said he espoused and didn't go on the offense," Santorum said in an interview to air Friday on CNN's "Piers Morgan Tonight." "And when you're playing defense, which is what I believe the campaign was doing and Republicans were doing generally throughout the course of this campaign you're not going to win.
"He didn't make it about those two fundamentally different visions for America," he said of Obama's re-election campaign, "and I don't think we did a very good job either as Republicans pointing out those fundamental differences and what type of freedom we're talking about."

Thanks!
This is insane. I can’t believe we are just going to ignore all the voter fraud evidence and roll over. So, why even have a Republican party anymore? Do give these assclowns pensions and prestige? Close it up, let the Democrats have one party rule. This is what this amounts to anyway.
RINO File.
All that aside we did run a defensive campaign. We ran a moderate that couldnt even beat McCain, and now you can LYAO.
Personally I am not laughing.
Perhaps you should pass the basket around and take up a collection of relevance, because that is what Saintorum is looking for. LOL
Plus, talk about losing elections, Rick has a PhD there.
Election was stolen, plain and simple.
You and I have the same feelings, why have a party when the other party just keeps cheating and ten our side just rolls over, 2016 will be no different and now I keep hearing we have to reach out to hispanics, .
HOW?
Give more amnesty more big Govt, maybe we should have got Rubio n the ticket instead of Paul though Paul is a good guy and a good conservative he did not bring anything.
We have more hispanics in top positions tan the left and yet we never promote that so how do we do all this reaching out lke the elitist pundits keep saying?
St Luci county had a 140% turnout and it went obama.
COL Allen West is doing his recount and finding that this election was stolen plain and simple, Republican votes were not counted and Dems did massive fraud.
WHERE IS THE GOP?
Romney could've put the election away in the third debate and made hurricane sandy a non-event, but chose not to.
Instead, Romney showed voters that there was little to any difference between him and Obama on foreign affairs. That gave voters no reason to vote Obama out and Romney in. In short, Romney cost Romney the election.
I will also say, I type the above with a very heavy heart. Romney wasn't my first (or second) choice in the Republican Primaries, but I do believe in my heart of hearts he would've been a MUCH better President than Obama, and Romney's economic policies were the right cure for what ails America.
Those who stayed home out of 'principal' should be ashamed of themselves. Look what hell you wrought on the country by doing so, you sorry-assed SOB's.
