Welcome to this week's Nascar at FR race thread! This Week - It's the AdvoCare 500 at Phoenix International Raceway Race #35 of 36 November 11, 2012 Click for Nascar race & news threads at FR TUNE IN Phoenix - PIR history - In 1964, when Phoenix International Raceway was carved out of the foothills of the Estrella Mountains, it was intended to be a new jewel in the crown of American open-wheel racing. Drivers like Mario Andretti, A.J. Foyt, Parnelli Jones and the Unsers soon came to love the 1-mile paved oval with the unique bend in the backstretch. And they really loved coming to Phoenix, where the tourism industry was just starting to grow and its Western style hospitality was second to none. But it wasn't until 1988, when NASCAR's Cup Series racing came to PIR, that auto racing in Phoenix really became a major sporting attraction for the Valley of the Sun. New racing legends and legends-in-the-making like Davey Allison, Richard Petty, Dale Earnhardt, Rusty Wallace and the rest of the Cup stars found out firsthand what their Champ Car brethren had known for years: Phoenix International Raceway is truly a great place to race, both for the drivers and especially the fans. 24 X 7 FRFLers -- It's been fun. |
Down to the Chase wire, Phoenix race thread is Up Ping!
Are these the NASCAR fans who favored Obama in a recent poll? I’m having a hard time remembering what I’m supposed to be boycotting.
Boogity

I haven’t seen much of you since you got diagnosed with the mange...
Well, I will be home on Sunday watching semi live in my DVR. But I am amazed what has happened to these threads this year. Sort of what’s happened to the sport in terms of low attendance and low to ratings. Sort of what happened to the Romney voter turnout. It’s like we’ve all fallen asleep. Or died. Or just tuned out. Where are we? What are we doing that is more important? I do a lot of sailing in the summer, but I still watch NASCAR, indycar and formula one on DVR. But I think a lot of people are just tuning out.
To bad for motors ports, that is for sure.
Wow. Looks great. But they have to understand that they get a race form an existing track and owner. Like Pocono. There will be no more added races to non France family tracks.

After spending election night in Eugene, a liberal bastion, I had to go to coastal Florence for a cleansing ocean dip. Helped the itchy mange and I did a little bit of this too:

Looks like someone got a lot of rain in a short time? The sport crabbing season is open here around Bender Bay and they are plentiful but all my FRiends live in Bend Ore or someplace called 8,500 Feet Co so we’re eating low sodium SPAM. I made changes to my drivers Tuesday and must have forgot to SAVE the changes as 6.3 of them have been Red Flagged by some guy called Yahoo...
Drove home late last night in a blizzard after seeing Bond, James Bond. I think I have a new hero to replace JJ but don’t tell Mrs. Happydog. 6” of the white stuff on the ground this morning and the walk to the flag pole to put up the Oregon Duck flag is in doubt.
JJ has his work cut out tomorrow w/a poor starting spot. May Murphy’s law apply to Keselowski.
DID IT ever OCCUR to you that your only REAL competition may be running the Kezz tomorrow???
