That's a terrible characterization of a fellow FReeper and is very close to an unwarranted personal attack.
If we can, in the spirit of being reasonable to further the discussion, let's step back from the heated response and consider what Calvin Coolidge had to say on the matter of immigration. Here are his remarks before Congress in December 1923:
American institutions rest solely on good citizenship. They were created by people who had a background of self-government. New arrivals should be limited to our capacity to absorb them into the ranks of good citizenship.
America must be kept American. For this purpose it is necessary to continue a policy of restricted immigration. It would be well to make such immigration of a selective nature with some inspection at the source, and based either on a prior census or upon the record of naturalization. Either method would insure the admission of those with the largest capacity and best intention of becoming citizens.
Those who do not want to be partakers of the American spirit ought not to settle in America.
President Coolidge, rightfully admired by President Reagan, was 100% on target then...and, more than ever, now.
"Like kicking out every illegal alien and their demon offspring. Kick out the 2nd and 3rd generations of illegal alien demon spawn"
I think they deserve a warranted personal attack. I'm disappointed that I'm the only person around here to think so. Speaking of personal attacks look up cabron a term EG used. To your other point. Yes, we want everyone in America to become good Americans. As a white Catholic, I know a lot of Latinos. Guess what, they are good Americans. They pay taxes, fight our wars, work hard and raise nice families. I've never asked how their ancestor's got here. For all I know they've been here since California was part of Mexico. The present non-system of immigration makes it almost impossible for the illegals to assimilate. Yet, the majority of Americans want them here to do menial jobs. It is a terrible system, and it needs to be fixed.
