Alert! The entire GOP elite seems to be trying to sell out en masse on immigration. Not only Boehner, but Cantor. And Hannity (who works for pro-amnesty world citizen Rupert Murdoch). Even Krauthammer.
Maybe these people are convinced the larger GOP project can be saved simply by caving on just this one issue...[Snip]. But by then there will be another wave of new, instinctively Democratic illegal immigrants (lured by the Boehner Amnesty) for Dems to appeal to.

The larger point is that Comprehensive Immigration Reformwhich is supposed to be a simultaneous combination of an amnesty plus enforcement measuresis a terrible idea. Its a terrible idea if it helps the Republican Party win national elections or if it hurts them..** As with the 1986 comprehensive reform, we will get the amnesty but not the enforcementafter the ACLU and Chamber of Commerce are through undermining it in the courts, and the Obama Justice Department is through undermining it in practice. The result will be (as in 1986) a new wave of illegal immigrants, largely unskilled, who will bid down the wages of the Americans and legal immigrants at the bottom of the labor market.
[Snip]
A much better strategy would be to enact the enforcement measures (including a border fence and a system of employment checks), then wait a few years and see if they survive. If they do, sure, come up with some kind of amnesty. You could calmly pitch that plan to Latinosit ends in the same place (amnesty). But thats not the sort of sensible approach you will insist on if you are part of a stampede of panicked pols and consultants whose only goal is to pander to what they think Latinos want to make up for their shortcomings in other areas.

That's fine. We'll have to give them a replacement spine once again.
If things can just 'take a while' then that works out just fine. Gridlock is a good thing and O needs to understand the Voters Demand It.
The only accomplishment I can see that Republicans achieved by taking the House back was to help get Obama re-elected.
Those spines never lasted long, They huffed and puffed and then gave into Obama since taking the House back and you cant help wondering how fast that will happen again.
Obama knew as history had shown that if Rs took back the congress he could make them take the blame for anything bad, instead of him getting it.
But what was impressive for him was Rs only took the House and Obama still was able to get them to be blamed. So they get weak kneed and cave after that happens.
When Boehner puts up that tax bill that caves to Os demands you think he will declare it a bi-partision victory?
Obama will never give credit to any Republican for anything.
However, as Reagan said, "Politics is the art of the possible".
The key here is going to be to use Woodward's book as cover for a little subterfuge. Bob Woodward is a Prophet and his writings are Holy Scripture in the media.
Its all out there. Its up to Boehner now to put the pieces together and use the cover he is being given by old-line Democrats.
We need to bombard the politicians with e-mails, phone calls. It has worked before, might again.
