George P. Bush of Fort Worth, the son of a former governor, and a grandson and nephew of former U.S. presidents, has filed paperwork with the Texas Ethics Commission, seemingly in preparation for a run for local or statewide office.
As first reported by The New Republic, Bush, 36, filed what is called an "appointment of a campaign treasurer by a candidate" form, which Texas Ethics Commission general Counsel Tim Sorrells said is required of someone who is a candidate.
The report, filed Wednesday, does not indicate which office Bush has his eye on. That might become more evident on Jan. 15, the next deadline for campaign finance reports.
He is a son of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, grandson of former President George H. W. Bush and a nephew of former president and Texas governor George W. Bush.
Bush keeps residences in Fort Worth, where his wife works as an attorney, and in Austin where he is a partner in Pennybacker Capital.
He co-founded the Hispanic Republicans of Texas Political Action Committee. He is considered one of the GOP's rising Latino stars and told the Tribune in March that "politics is in his blood." He declined then to speculate about any immediate plans to seek office, although speculation has centered on a run for comptroller.
Bush said that on issues such as immigration, he was a George W. Bush Republican -- a moderate.

As the good reverend might say, “Stay out da Bushes!”. LOL.
We are truly a banana republic. Yes, he has the right to run for office, but we all know what this is about.
If the Bush's were honest men, they would run in the party of their core beliefs -- the Democrat Party.
Bush 43 spent like a democrat when it came to Domestic spending.
It's disgusting how all these political families (Bush, clinton, Kennedy, etc.) believe they are destined to rule over us.
And.....our long national nightmare continues since Tuesday’s election. Another Bush.
Good luck with that. Seems to me his name is as good as mud
Already...
I’m so sick of this and this nightmare has just begun.
Same with the Kennedys.
“...He co-founded the Hispanic Republicans of Texas Political Action Committee...”
Does anyone else find this offensive?
I detest hyphonated Americans, and now hyphonated Republicans? You are either a Republican and an American, or you are not.
“Bush said that on issues such as immigration, he was a George W. Bush Republican — a moderate.”
***
And there you have it. Another Republican liberal. That will hurt his chances more than the Bush name.
He will split up the conservatives and republican and land Texas with a democrat for Governor.
“And.....our long national nightmare continues since Tuesdays election. Another Bush.”
Could be worse. Imagine Meghan McCain for prez!
ENOUGH! FOR PETE’S SAKE. What is this?! GUATEMALA?!!
We must find this lab and shut it down.
Lol, don’t get me started on that air-head:)
Who says we don’t have “royal families” here in the States ???
Obama’s daughter will be the first black female president.
Unfortunately, I think we will have to also suffer through a Hillary administration or two first. Nah...on second thought, it will never happen....right???
Is Perry planning to run again? If so, maybe he shouldn’t. I think after the primaries he lost some supporters. Toss a Bush into the mix...we will get the democrat.
I think Texas needs to find a good one to run, starting now. Canseco voted well and if he loses his seat, maybe him? I don’t know but we had better get busy hunting a good candidate.
I was thinking Michelle Obama. We can be just like Argentina.
Heck, the Clintons, the Bushs and now the Obamas.
The Castro’s in Texas are working on a family operation, too!
