**EXCLUSIVE** Senate Minority Leader: No Tax Hikes ("Read His Lips")
Breitbart ^ | 8 Nov 2012, 3:46 PM PDT | Ben Shapiro

Posted on 11/08/2012 7:23:57 PM PST by Red Steel

With conservatives across the country concerned about a rumored Republican cave-in in Washington, D.C. over tax policy, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is speaking out. Read his lips: no tax hikes.

McConnell said in an exclusive statement to Breitbart News:

One issue I’ve never been conflicted about is taxes. I wasn’t sent to Washington to raise anybody’s taxes to pay for more wasteful spending and this election doesn’t change my principles. This election was a disappointment, without doubt, but let’s be clear about something: the House is still run by Republicans, and Republicans still maintain a robust minority in the Senate.

This is nothing more than a token display of resistance. He can talk big because he knows Reid is going to use the first day of the session, when a point of order can be passed by simple majority, to change the Senate rules to marginalize the Republican’s ability to block legislation via filibuster.

Another good line in this short article:

The media has already taken House Speaker John Boehner out of context to claim that he is willing to cave on raising tax rates.

We ought to be rallying around our guys, imperfect as they are, to resist Obama.

Then it goes back to the House, and low and behold, each of us will probably be asking the question or making a statement similar to after the fact of probable passage ... Don't we have the majority there?

Very predictable. A prayer I'm wrong.

Am ready to give up till the next election gears up. It will be too late, but know of nothing else to do. Can't redo the vote.

If Obama can change Immigration law by executive fiat, he can change Tax by executive fiat. McConnel doesn't understand that the constitution was swept away in Obamas first term. It no longer exists.

"When Reid changes the Senate filibuster rules, there won’t be anything he can do about it."

That's the whole point - which seems to be lost on some of the hurtazz Freepers in this thread: Mitch is promising scorched earth, and under the new Senate rules where the GOP can't filibuster rule changes & amendments, Harry will have to Own It when it comes to tax hikes.

Mitch is already laying the playing field for 2014.

“Well at least he did not cave on the first day like Boehner.”

The month is still young.

We might as well let the Rats do whatever they want at this point. No point in the Republicans setting themselves up to be the scapegoat. Obama might as well finish destroying the economy and the Rats will have only themselves to blame. Maybe if we allow the fools who voted for Obama to hit bottom they might wake up!! The Republican strategy ought to be to detach and enable no more. (For now, while they dig their hole)

McConnell emerges from his cave to grandstand after hibernating through the entire campaign. The GOP cannot win with the current “leadership”. There needs to be a complete sweep at the top.

The sheer number of lies reach a tipping point and we are well beyond that now. All that’s left is for the Bread and Circus to spend its way through to the very last dollar or the Muslims or Putin (or both) to nuke a US city or two.

Whenever Mitch McC says one thing, he always does the opposite, but the people of KY have never caught on.

Reid can change the rules, and it won’t matter much. The feckless GOP has ceased to use the rules unless its “leadership” finds a way to expand government too. The only hope would be for McC and Boehner to be replaced, and that can’t happen, and it probably wouldn ‘t matter either.

“Everyone in a postion of GOP leadership needs to step aside.”

Absolutely, minority leader and ESPECIALLY the crybaby speaker.

Options are dwindling people.

Yeah sure. Mitch McConnell is a regular Ronald Reagan.

Lets be honest here; this bowl of vanilla ice cream gets more animated taking a crap.

This guy is like his House counter part Boehner; he folds like a cheap card table.

Weasel. He’s not ruling out a tax increase. Only one that’s for “wasteful” spending.

Exactly.

[Dirty Harry taps Mitch on the shoulder] "Uh, Mitch? This tax increase Boehner and I put together here? Why, it's not for wasteful spending at all!"

[McConnell blinks] "Oh! Well then, that's OK!"

Obama and Democrats to Senate Minority Leader: “LOL!”

Better yet: Obama and the Democrats to Senate Minority Leader: "Aw, listen to that; isn't he just the cutest little thing?"

This current group of weak-kneed Republicans need to just get out of the way of Obama, but do it in a cunning way.

here is a case in point:
Obama wants to raise taxes. Have him submit his proposal chock full of tax increases. Pretend that we will fight those tax increases. Let it pass the Senate first. then when it arrives in the House, change our tune and pass it in its entirety. We cannot take the blame.

Do the same with Amnesty. The hispanics expect him to pass amnesty. The democRATS really dont want amnesty because then they lose control of their precious new voting block. Force his hand. Pass Amnesty in the house. Make the democRATS decide.

Do the same for every issue. just like Obamacare, make Obama own every descision that he campaigned on. Yes, it will hurt is for the next four years but look at what has happened in Argentina. The lady who ran it like Obama is now ripe to be run out of office, her and her coalition.

People at some point have to suffer before they wise up.

Also, my wife and I have decided to turn off our TV during prime-time, minimize our movie going, stop dining out, , stop buying music, and have cancelled our newspaper and our magazines.

We also will not donate to Sandy victims because we heard on TV that Gov Christie and Obama have it all under control.
