Adviser: Romney "shellshocked" by loss
CBS ^

Posted on 11/08/2012 3:14:29 PM PST by Arthurio

Mitt Romney's campaign got its first hint something was wrong on the afternoon of Election Day, when state campaign workers on the ground began reporting huge turnout in areas favorable to President Obama: northeastern Ohio, northern Virginia, central Florida and Miami-Dade.

Then came the early exit polls that also were favorable to the president.

But it wasn't until the polls closed that concern turned into alarm. They expected North Carolina to be called early. It wasn't. They expected Pennsylvania to be up in the air all night; it went early for the President.

After Ohio went for Mr. Obama, it was over, but senior advisers say no one could process it.

"We went into the evening confident we had a good path to victory," said one senior adviser. "I don't think there was one person who saw this coming."

I’m having a real hard time remaining “friends” with people who voted for the marxist and are now gloating. I can no longer - at this point - be friendly toward them. They sold out our country and I just can’t wrap my head or heart around their betrayal of this country.

Has anyone else defriended people in their lives besides me?

Great comment from a Dim, sad to read it here on FR. It is America he was worried about and people with opinions like yours will hold responsibility for the next 4 years. He certainly is head and shoulders above the Kenyan. I doubt the UN would be coming for guns under Romney.

Please keep in mind that Mitt believes he will become God someday. You can understand his disappointment at rejection, which confirms he isn’t God.

So in other words, they were just like us?

At first, I got home from voting and turned on the tele, the first results looked good...IN flipped right away, O stuck with just the 3 votes from VT, initial votes from NC and VA looked good, but then...fricken FL just would not budge. I was following the FL results for over an hr, thinking at some point the numbers would go our way, and they just never did. The ground game there and in OH, just blew it.

What really scared them is that Romney promised to create millions of new jobs. What we did not calculate through our normal way of thinking is that half our country do not want new jobs. That would mean they would have to go to work. They want food stamps and Obamaphones, not jobs. We are not going to win anything extolling free market economics to Savages.

Early voting gave them the opportunity to make sure they were right. So did so many voting sites with only Democrat worker being allowed.

I so agree with you. My heart goes out to him. I truly feel Mitt and Ann Romney gave it their best. I would have loved to have seen him win.

I still feel massive voter fraud added to this whole loss.

They should have gotten their first hint when the Dims made it clear that Romney was their candidate of choice to run against.

One of many hints that the GOP-E was pushing the wrong candidate.

I don’t know who of the other 8 who started out in Spring could have won. Unless the Republican voter no-shows, who had voted for the hapless Juan McCain 4 years ago, were all Mormon haters. But then, they’d have hated a Catholic just as much. I blame the no-shows, not the GOP or Romney who ran a good campaign, and did well in the debates.

Over the past twenty five years, I have seen political consultants sabotage (sometimes by incompetence, sometimes by design) Republican candidates. They have no convictions and are only loyal to their own checkbooks. When the purge starts begin with 95% of the consultants - Karl Rove first.

Like who?

So Santorumm is a retrtead and Perry couldn’t keep from tripping on his own words...Bachman was so villified and blindsided by the hatred of the left...

Just WHERE is this great conservative group?

WE LOST OUR BEST SHOT THIS YEAR!

Look at Zero’s turnout...the yoots still came out in numbers rivalling 2008...it was supposed to drop off...all the anger at zero, healthcare and the entire meme of what a sorry azzed loser he was didn’t get people to vote against him. Heck, he got 6million evangelicals and 40% of the catholic vote...

You think it was a lack of a conservative message?? The conservative message was there. The voters didn’t buy it.

Instead voters agreed to hand over our country to this socialist azzhole and his slobbering cronies.

I don’t know if we as conservatives will ever get it back.

When you can make $45k a year for doing absolutely nothing, how is a message of hard work and self-reliance going to play for ya? All they hear is that evil conservatives will take away their bennies.

Not a winning strategy.

Even the “professionals” didn’t see it coming so what the hell does it mean?

Actually, many of the profesionals did see it coming but we found excuses (i.e., biased sampling) to ignore the polls that we didn't like.

Didn’t Newt call Mitt a predatory Capitalist? Maybe that had something to do with his loss.
