So I'm sitting here today licking my wounds and wondering how in the hell I could be so wrong in my predictions for this election and suddenly it came to me.
Just don't show up....Read on below

How to Lose an Election
Wanna know how you lose in life? Just don't show up.
That's really all it takes and excatly what happened in this election, costing us gains in both houses, the White House and losing in several states on issues important to us.
Below are the results of the 2008 and 2012 election.
After you look at the sobering numbers ask yourself what other result could have ensued.
It really isn't all that difficult to lose, just don't try or don't show up and YOU LOSE.
Less of us showed up as a percentage of the vote than democrats and while fewer of them voted than in 2008, more of them showed up and that's all it took to lose.
Election 2008
Election 2012
In the tables above you can see that while Republicans narrowed the Electoral College gap, the total number of votes cast were somehow 2,109,308 less than in 2008!
Unbelievable!!!
How exactly does work/happen?!! I mean, are you kidding me!!?? Obama plays to sparse crowds and many I know voted voted for him in 2008 are actually going to vote for Romney.
But, Mitt's events aren't just stanging room only, the are in fact, blowouts indicating there is real energy for his candidacy as opposed to his opponent.
Why wouldn't we think there would be less votes for Obama this time around? What was he going to run on? He looked flat footed everywhere he went and even used subtle language of violence once again to gin up his adherents to "Get Revenge".
Well, I guess we know the power of the drug he was peddling because Hopium found enough addicts for him to prevail.
That's right, in 2008 a spell bound America had found their savior and 69.5 million(approx) votes were cast for Obama. However, in 2012 many Americans had kicked him as a habit and he only garnered 60.5 million votes.
"The One" was now demonstrably less than he was just four years ago.
How does a guy with an abysmal economic record, who didn't focus on jobs, pursued many of Bush's policies and Royaly screwed up his international policies resulting in a disaster in the Middle East, how does he get re-elected?
WITH 13% FEWER VOTES THAN THOSE CAST FOR HIS ASCENSION TO THE WHITE HOUSE???!!! REALLY? REALLY???
GET SERIOUS....
Republicans weren't even close to being serious about voting for their country. 4% less votes were cast for Mitt than were for McCain, not even arguably a worse candidate.
Obama is less popular and that's a fact but, we can't find enough votes to retire this guy? You have got to be joking me!!! Bunch-o-drunks is the only explanation I can come up with.
And please, don't anyone give me some pap about which states were carried or needed to be carried, that's a given.
Bottom line, the friggin numbers don't lie and we wouldn't have enough to prevail under any circumstance if less of us show up for this election than the last.
We didn't show up. Our performance was a "D" effort. Theirs was an unremarkable "C+", that's all it took.
I couldn't see any energy for Obama and was certain we would prevail. I saw more energy for Romney than McCain and that gave me even greater confidence.
So, for not showing up we failed to:
Increase our share of the Senate. Hell, I don't know how that is mathematically possible except that we didn't show up. The Democrats now have a 54-45 majority if we count the two independents. That's just plain stupid. We were suppose to increase our lead to at least 51 Republicans and if we Got Lucky as many as 57.
Fauxchahauntus is indeed a powerful spirit.
In the Congress we really should have picked up a super majority but all we could muster was a not even paltry gain of 1 seat.
This is the strangest election. It seemed like Republicans had everything going for them with the wind at their back and bouyed by our 2010 Tea Party success. It seems the sail we were using didn't just lose its wind but, was rent and torn into tiny little pieces.
Just awful and awful performance from our friends who were no shows.
I didn't believe it until today but, maybe the TEA Party is dead??? /S
Don't anyone bother me with the details of state by state. I'm researching that right now and getting into the weeds.
Bottom line, our friends who said they were invested in this election are frauds and all this other baloney about minority issues, the environment, etc are a so much malarky.
Don't show up and you are a loser. We lost.

Let the other party program the voting machines and run them.
That always works.
Let the other team own all the media.
That should work.

the answer to your question is quite easy. how is it that there were 2,000,000 Lessing votes in this election? have you looked at the average age of the participants at any Republican event?

We need to have a serious heart to heart about how we run our party.
I have no doubt liberals stole votes with polling shenanigans, but in my heart I know we lost this to LOW TURN OUT.
Obamas turn out was proportionally worse than ours compared to 2008.
Romney ran a great “General” election and we lost because we are infighting.

As I've said before, Obama is/was the Dems golden child.
The Dems wont pull numbers like these again for a while.
All is not lost.

Has Dick Morris ever been right about anything ever?
He is a professional BSer. Just like Obama.
Why people abide him or Donald Trump is beyond me.

That’ll work too but I have a hard time believing they did it enough and widespread to make a difference.
Bottom line:
Less of us showed than last time and the same for their side but more of them showed up than us so the result is a logical outcome.
Live long and prosperous.

you mean like the way we fought the Tea Party and chased Ross Perot people out? is that the in fighting you’re talking about. it has been going on in the Republican Party for years. the next election will be the same.
I was at a campaign night party and there were 2 rooms set up. 1 was for the regular party faithful and the other room was for those with country club memberships. the regular folk were not allowed in the country clubbers room.
I saw people that had worked really hard on the campaign that were not allowed inside and were really mad

I was a true believer in Micheal Barone.
Never could abide Dicky the toe sucker.
Thanks to all on FR who let me rant and did not dash my brains on the rocks.
We will survive, but Elvis is dead and I don’t feel so well myself LOL

No. The reality is we just didn’t show up. In fact, less showed up this time for a “more palatable” candidate than last time.
2 million less and really we should had an increase in our share participation.
It cost us our mathematically predictable gains in the houses.
Just great.

Events don’t matter. That’s old-fashioned campaigning from the Pony Express era. We need to reach millions, not thousands. Flinging a few ads on Minnesota TV doesn’t matter, especially in the cable/DVR era. You need an entrenched ground game in the states you want to win and we didn’t have that.

We didn’t have “Charisma”. It is a popularity contest. Issues don’t matter anymore.
