They also achieved their 2/3 majority in both houses. They can now tax at will.

Unless they voted to raise taxes 100% on themselves, I am not impressed.

Goodbye Prop 13. Goodbye home ownership.

CA voters voted every imaginable tax increase, yet voted down a measure that would've enabled auto insurance companies to offer discounts to policyholders who've been diligent in insuring their cars.

Nucking futs.

I really feel like a sucker these days. Risk everything and start a business and devote my life to it and work my ass off like you wouldn’t believe and I have to give and give and give taxes here and fees there and give money to those guys and I train people and give them careers and they can feed their kids and I provide health insurance and you would think that I would be appreciated right? NOPE,I have a manufacturing business in California, obviously I hate women and don’t care about the environment and don’t like gay people and I need to be more regulated and pay more fees and pay my “Fair share”. After last night it looks like America will soon become California. Fifty years ago people would have looked at me and said “That son of a bitch did it right. He worked his tail off and I admire that bastard”. Now they look at me and say “What a sucker that poor bastard is. Let someone else work their ass off, he doesn’t get it”. I am a sucker, right?

...Californians took a step toward improving the state's fiscal situation and avoiding education cuts...

Whenever the big government apparatchiks want more money, more control they just threaten to cut education and the feel-good "anything for the kids" crowd lines up, bends over and grabs their ankles.

This whole election, from coast to coast, makes me physically ill. I didn't sleep more than 20 or 30 minutes last night, haven't eaten much all day - just some tea. It is like watching a loved-one die.

Every penny slated for “education” is going to pay for teacher pensions. Every Single Penny.

Not completely true. Some of it will pay for lavish administrator vehicles and office furniture, not to mention remodeling teacher lounges.

Prop 13 is still in effect. State income and sales taxes can be imposed within any Republican legislators’ consent, but the property tax and local sales tax limits of Prop 13 remain.

Oh I know Prop 13 is still in place, but where California has gone the direction it has its days are numbered.
