Maybe you're unaware of this, but agriculture is one of the major industries in NY state. It is THE MAJOR industry in PA, VT, OH, WI, CA, ...
The "Blue States" are in fact blue harbor cities along the coasts and the Mississsippi river. If the secession occurs along state lines (unlikely) the Blue States will have more of the food. There isn't much growing in WY or ND or the intermountain West. It's about water. Not space.

True, here in the Pittsburgh area, I can drive out 20 minutes into the country and see cows. B-) Agricultural is huge here.

Yes, except that there is no food in blue Wisconsin. Like many states, it is the big city centers, in our case greater Milwaukee and Madison areas, that vote for communism. Those of use outside of those areas arent the ones supporting it.
