This summer the Supreme Court ruled that the Obama Administrations health care mandates to be constitutional as a tax. Today, the people of the state of Alabama told the Supreme Court to shove it!
In a Majority vote of 56%-44% (with 46% reported), the People of Alabama passed Amendment 6, which reads:
An amendment to the Constitution of Alabama of 1901, to prohibit any person, employer, or health care provider from being compelled to participate in any health care system.
In the weeks leading up to the vote, there were overwhelming attempts by the media and the so-called political class to make the amendment seem irrelevant.
Many were saying that the vote was of no consequence. But, voters in Alabama stood strong with their beliefs.
Only 15 minutes after the polls closed the Amendment 6, vote was off to an early lead showing 63% in favor, and support held nearly as strong throughout the final count.
Alabama is the 11th state to have passed similar legislation. Missouri and Arizona voters were first and second in 2010. But Alabama is the first to have passed it since the Supreme Court ruling this summer.

They can’t do this. The federal government will force it. States rights are a thing of the pass. Nice try though, guys.
So did Wyoming with 77% of the vote.
Well I guess it will have to go to court and on to the Supreme court. I think Obama should be put on medicare along with large wife only the best for our President.
Is it as toothless as some say?
Good for them!!!
This is a super serious issue. States need to exert their rights. That is yet another argument for why I voted for marijuana here in Wa.
Good luck with that Alabama, it’ll be interesting to see how the obama’s fedgov monster is going to punish you for going against his wishes.
Glad to hear it!
And that traitor, John Roberts, nevertheless left a little time bomb for the states to use: the feds CANNOT “blackmail” the states into implementing Obamacare and setting up the state-run health insurance exchanges by threatening to withhold other federal monies normally due the states (medicaid, education, highways, whatever).
Rick Perry of Texas claimed that he would never establish the publicly run health exchanges in his state. Does anyone know what’s become of that in Texas?
yup.
States no longer have any real relevance. Neither does Congress come to think of it.
Brilliant! And if the parasites want ObamaCare, they can move to the Blue States and attach themselves to their health care.
The conservative states should start tightening the screws on all their welfare expenditures and drive their welfare rolls down. Obama will provide in the Communist states that vote for him, so all should go swimmingly.
did you vote to legalize kiddie porn and child marriage too??
Cuz states rights, dude.... pass the munchies.....
and next time we can legalize crack and meth!! high five!!
losers
He probably won’t have to, because we have a weak Governor system. The entire “Cabinet” is elected state-wide and one of the others is probably in charge of that.
Thank you for the good news.
We have some state houses, we have the U.S. We should fight with every tool we have.
I hope the House revolts. If they can go around it, ok, but make them go around it.
I like your thinking. It’s time we creatively use every governmental tool we have on every level to thwart the monster.
There are other ways to pressure States. Some that Obama has already used are targeted EPA suits and regulatory interpretations against industries in Texas.
