Because what tonights election showed is that the American electorate has degraded very, very badly in the last decade. Exit polling indicates that this electorate was a D+6 electorate. 38 percent Democrat, 32 percent Republican. I didnt think that was possible. I was wrong. Obama ran and won with an atrocious record, without anything remotely resembling a positive agenda for a second term, with a campaign based on lies, slander and hatred. Thats what he ran on. And thats what he won on.

“Romney could not offer free birth control. It is just that simple.
It really is, at least among younger voters I have talked to.”
I’ve had a similar experience with the ones i’ve talked to.
It’s hard to get your mind around, but we lost our nation or severely damaged it, because of their demand for birth control, and their love for homosexuality.
It’s astounding but true.
Great. Glad to know I’m a total write-off.
Last I checked it wasn’t the 18-30 year olds who nominated Romney, or passed Roe v Wade.
Choosing the most popular Governor in America, perhaps in history, was not a gimmick, it was a chance to get a Reagan like reformer, earth shaker, into the white house.
Governor Palin was the strength in the 2008 ticket, not the old, moderate, Senator.
“stupid conservatives that didnt vote for Romney.”
Isn’t your primary complaint about Obama that he never takes personal responsibility for his failures, and blames everyone else instead?
Gingrich would have made it a different campaign for certain.
But I’m not at all certain he would have equalled Romney’s results.
And, still, there are those on here who would have tarred and feathered Newt as they did Romney.
Basics are we have to have a strong candidate and unify behind them. We have tough job as it is, so this is fundamental for us.
Long term, education and the culture and church and family - if we don’t have these... Without the right values, the nation fails. The founders knew this, we need to remember it also.
Good excuse, but given his record as governor, and his refusal to admit Romneycare was a mistake, where was his credability to teach conservatism?
It’s the electorate. We could have run anyone and still lost.
Here come the knives for the GOP social agenda.
Do you think that supporting abortion is ‘sane’?
but just like here, Rush and Glenn and Savage and Hannity won't cooperate with each other....
maybe start with a newspaper or two... maybe radio...SOMETHING.....
REAGAN???
We can start by not going to Massachusetts for the most liberal republican presidential candidate in history.
I think Bill Weld comes as close as anyone, Romney said when asked whom in his party he aligned with.
I was an independent during the time of Reagan-Bush. Im not trying to return to Reagan-Bush,
Im not a partisan politician. My hope is that, after this election, it will be the moderates of both parties who will control the Senate, not the Jesse Helmses.
Romney never made the sale
What is scary, when it comes down to it, Mitt Romney probably over performed given the position the Republican brand finds itself in.
The 18 to 30 generation is nearly a total loss. Nothing is more important them than homosexuality and free birth control.
Can you read? I said “nearly”. Maybe you aren’t one of the bad ones. But are you seriously arguing that the 18 to 30 crowd don’t support homosexuality and anything related to abortion as a deeply held core value? Take a poll of your university class and get back to me.
I take it you disagree that conservatives who didn’t vote for Romney didn’t act stupidly. Perhaps “well-intentioned but naive and politically ignorant” would be more charitable.
This election hurt my country a great deal; and, it will result in very tough and painful times for my family and others I care a great deal about.
Maybe you’ll forgive me if I’m not too charitable towards anyone who sat on the sidelines and watched it happen. I loath Obama and his friends; and, the enemy of Obama’s enemies is his friend.
Wait until they realize the baby boomers (their parents) stuck them with bill. They just voted themselves a depression.
I think it much more than that. If we go with the narrative that it is the 47% hand-out crowd then they have perfectly framed the republicans and Romney.
I sincerely have come to see Romney as a regular Joe, too liberal and loves his father but certainly not a rich-beach type. He and his family are good people.
The democrats won over a few things. Fraud and corruption of the election is one.
Deciding a Supreme Court judge is another, they couldn’t risk a conservative there. In that, the stupid Fluke girl counted big.
Religion is another, not because Romney is Mormon but because he is a true believer—that scares the left (The Handmaidens Tale).
The homosexual agenda is another, the republican party is schizophrenic there.
Romney didn’t lose because of the takers, he lost because of the makers. The takers are little slave puppets to the democrats...Romney lost to the 1% crowd who are so much better than the rest. ahem.
The takers in 3rd world countries don’t usually win unless the makers decide that’s what they want. The 47% are usually slaves to the makers.
Boomers are now 2:2 for supporting Obama.
I want folks to think about this.
Why did we not want Romney to be the nominee? Wasn’t it because we didn’t buy him as a Conservative? Wasn’t it because we didn’t trust him to govern as a Conservative?
Why are we surprised that the greater populace didn’t believe his changed stripes either? We were kidding ourselves. I include myself in there with everyone else.
I tried to make the best out of two lemons, but I still wound up with something that was very sour.
Frankly, in some ways the electorate simply saw through what Romney was trying to pass off as Conservatism. They didn’t believe he would govern as a Conservative either.
We have told the RNC that we cannot win with RINOs until we’re blue in the face. They won’t listen.
Okay, then let them get the next nominee elected, because I’m sick and tired of trying to convince myself I’m just too picky, when everyone knows I’m not being too picky to object to a nominee like Romney in the first place.
Abortion should more properly decided in each state and not the federals. It’s a 10th Amendment issue..
