Official exit polls results have been agreed by major news networks to be held back until each particular states polls close. Political analysts from ABC, Associated Press, CBS, CNN, Fox and NBC have agreed to report general trends but cannot report the results of exit polls until the polls close, according to Poynter.
I don't think that's new. They held off on release (or claimed to) in 2008 as well. This policy stemmed from the Kerry '04 debacle where they were calling him "Mr. President". Since then, the only "result-oriented" exit poll data you will see will be the result of a leak.

You may be right. I could have sworn we were hearing exit polls in 2008. The media was flat out in the can for Obama, and they were heralding his victory all day it seemed to me. Probably my bias showing...
