Univision’s Documentary Operation “Fast and Furious: Arming the Enemy”

Univision’s new documentary “Fast and Furious: Arming the Enemy” is a must watch. In approximately 45-minutes, investigative journalists at the American Spanish language cable news channel give the viewer a real sense of the tragic repercussions the fatally flawed gunrunning operation has had on the Mexican people.

Here are just a few of the documentary’s key findings, courtesy of Gun Owners of America (which did its own analysis of the film):

* There have been other Americans -- in addition to U.S. Border Agent Brian Terry -- who were murdered by Fast & Furious guns, such as Air Force medic David Booher who was executed at a Juarez bar;

* There are scores of other crime guns which came into Mexico as a result of Fast & Furious that have not yet been tallied by Congress, such as the weapons used to massacre over a dozen teenagers at a party in Mexico -- including some who were gunned down by lookouts as they escaped; and,

* There were other gun running operations, such as Operation Castaway which sent guns into Colombia, Honduras and Venezuela.

What was most striking about the film, at least to me, was the human element – that is to say, learning about some of the victims and their families.

In covering Fast and Furious, it’s easy to get bogged down in the details, such as the number of guns trafficked over the course of the operation, or the politics, the ongoing debate on whether Attorney General Eric Holder should resign, and forget about the people who were gunned down by cartel operatives using firearms that were essentially gifted to them by the U.S. Government.

(There’s one scene that depicts cartel thugs raiding a dinner banquet and shooting attendees who are lying on the ground, execution style).

It’s sad, really really sad. And it’s easy to get really, really pissed off about the whole ordeal. Particularly, when one learns more about the casual indifference the ATF leadership exhibited toward the lives of innocent people.

Between Fast and Furious and Benghazigate, we don't have just a biased, lame stream media, with rare exceptions, it's been corrupted. By ignoring these stories or giving minimal coverage, they are complicit as a minimum with accessories to murder and dereliction of duty.

I know, no evidence, but I really think that SOMEHOW the Romney camp was involved in getting this on Telemundo.

This should have been on TV in the border states with Mexico and other states with significant Latino populations. The RNC chairman, Rience Preibus(sp?) told The Daily Caller last December that they were going to make a big stink about Fast and Furious, IIRC. I'm in NYC, so I haven't seen anything. Did you see anything in Ohio?

Didn’t someone mention on one of these threads that no one knows about Benghazi or F&F? That he has to explain these things to everybody because they haven’t heard a word about them?

I don't know, but if it were a Republican President in office when Benghazi or F&F happened with all these numbers of dead people, the broadcast networks and cable news stations would be frothing at the mouth like they did with Watergate, Iran/Contra and Abu Ghraib, instead of barely paying it lip service. Pardon the pun. Presstitutes fills the bill.

Speaking of abu Ghraib, in Clinton's time it went unmentioned too among all the bleeding heart stories about sanctions...that Saddam Hussein was holding an American there.

Meanwhile, thanks to the idiotic propaganda of the "progressive" left and an immature female US soldier named Pfc. Lynndie R. England, Abu Ghraibh is now known to the duller elements of the American public more for alleged U.S. panty-humiliation of prisoners than for the thousands of Iraqis and others who were tortured and murdered there by the regime of Saddam Hussein. It is as if Auschwitz' history of horrors had been subject to historic revisionism and had suddenly become infamous for petty vandalism. )

They mentioned Operation Castaway in Florida and the guns sold in Texas that killed ICE agent Jaime Zapata. Those had nothing to do with Operation Fast and Furious out of Arizona. Eric Holder & Co. still haven’t explained these other states.

IIRC, Fast & Furious was not limited to AZ, and the TX guns were actually a part of F&F. I also wonder about NM, and would be utterly unsurprised to hear of F&F operations there, too.
