President Obamas Environmental Protection Agency has devoted an unprecedented number of bureaucrats to finalizing new anti-coal regulations that are set to be released at the end of November, according to a source inside the EPA.
More than 50 EPA staff are now crashing to finish greenhouse gas emission standards that would essentially ban all construction of new coal-fired power plants. Never before have so many EPA resources been devoted to a single regulation. The independent and non-partisan Manhattan Institute estimates that the EPAs greenhouse gas coal regulation will cost the U.S. economy $700 billion.
The rush is a major sign of panic by environmentalists inside the Obama administration. If Obama wins, the EPA would have another four full years to implement their anti-fossil fuel agenda. But if Romney wins, regulators will have a very narrow window to enact a select few costly regulations that would then be very hard for a President Romney to undo.

Watch, after a Romney victory, any talk about reining in the EPA will be met with leftist/MSM screeches of
“stripping environmental protection”
and “promoting pollution”.
The EPA needs to be turned into nothing but a display case filled with examples of economic destruction at the Smithsonian.
Romney should address this in his Tuesday night speech, saying his Executive Branch will refuse to enforce any of these new regulations. In his inauguration speech he should grant continuing pardons to those that violate these new regulations. He should tell the courts, to paraphrase Jackson, go try and enforce your order, the executive branch including the department of justice will neither enforce or prosecute.
I don’t have a lot of faith in the GOP.
My congressman has had a bill sitting dead in the house since February of 2011 that would strip the EPA of regulatory power (that they’ve never officially had). Over 100 co sponsors and they can’t even get it to committee.
H.R.750 - Defending America’s Affordable Energy and Jobs Act
To preempt regulation of, action relating to, or consideration of greenhouse gases under Federal and common law on enactment of a Federal policy to mitigate climate change.

Just curious if anyone knows what’s the procedure to abolish a federal agency like the EPA. Has it ever been attempted before?
I suspect the President could do a lot - such as refusing to appoint key members, refusing to spend the money Congress allocates, etc., but all that could be reversed by the next administration. I assume it would take action by Congress to completely eliminate an agency permanently.
Liberals aren’t capable of using words that big. They just say we want “dirty air and water”.
Tell all your liberal friends that skyrocketing electric rates are necessarily part of Obama’s plans.
“whats the procedure to abolish a federal agency like the EPA.”
The sweetest thing would be to kill them with budget cuts. Follow that with legislation that requires Congressional approval of all regulations, and then strip them of the power to levy fines.
And yet, there will be those in coal states, that work in that industry, that will vote Obama.
Ya just can’t make this stuff up.
Just severely defund it .... along with planned parenthood .... as Newt suggested ....
They hijacked the now defunct Democratic Party in the 1970s. They are the EPA mentors.
If we had representatives with balls, it would be fairly trivial. Congress can simply refuse to allocate taxpayer dollars for a given organization.
Since this is never discussed much less implemented it’s clear that both parties aren’t serious about these kinds of things.
America is the “Saudi Arabia” of coal, with enough to last for hundreds of years. It’s relatively cheap, and dependable, and not required to send our money to overseas interests. It provides jobs to Americans - good paying jobs - and also to folks who might not have doctorates in navel gazing.
The problem we have faced as a people is the myriad organizations that have sprung up in recent decades both governmental and otherwise, that are not elected and unnacountable, (not that our elected reps are accountable) ; these are tailor made for control-freak wack jobs to implement far reaching policies without public or business review, and this isby design. That is the statist way in modern politics, legislation and legislators are just for show, the courts, lawyers, and NGOs and such actually run the show.
what is the procedure for getting regulations overturned
And West Virginia is about to re-elect a RAT Senator Manchin. Unbelievable.
WHAT THE HELL ARE THOSE PEOPLE IN WEST VIRGINIA THINKING? RATS pretend to be anything—then they vote Communist. What’s not to understand here?
DemoKKKrats are WORSE than communists. Anybody who’d ever walked up to Joseph Stalin and suggested the idea of destroying a dam or hydroelectric plant or a major agricultural area like the Central Valley for the sake of lizards, shad, salmon, snail darters or delta smelts would have been taken out behind the barn and shot through the head.
"Where did we go wrong, Blanche? "
How do we fix the problem? Tain't happening until "a crisis shall have been reached and passed."
Abe will explain from "the other side."
You initiated a policy to tolerate the Marxist-Alinsky radicals and let them rant; not only has it not ceased but was constantly augmented by decades of infiltration and indoctrination. You now have two Americas. In my opinion, it will not cease until a crisis shall have been reached and passed. "A house divided against itself cannot stand." I believe this government cannot endure, permanently, half statist and half free; I do not expect the house to fall; but I do expect it will cease to be divided. It will become all one thing, or all the other.
re: “ But if Romney wins, regulators will have a very narrow window to enact a select few costly regulations that would then be very hard for a President Romney to undo.”
I don’t like “executive orders” generally because presidents use them when they can’t get congress to do what they want, thus often circumventing the Constitution.
But, in the case of a government regulatory bureaucracy that has no Constitutional authority for its existence, I have no problem with the president issuing an order to that particular department to cease and desist in regard to a particular act or actions that department is attempting to implement.
All Romney has to do is to issue an order to stop those regulations from being implemented.
