What do you expect from people who have been trained from birth to depend on the government for everything.
Even now, as bad as things are for millions of citizens, they are sharing from their meager pocketbooks to help their fellow citizens by donations and actions.
How much more might have been available had they had jobs, had their President not been more dedicated to a Marxian "taking" and "redistributing," paper money theory than to an American, freedom of individual enterprise, wealth creation idea!
We need to turn away from petty tyrants who call themselves presidents, legislators, governors, and mayors and who see themselves as planners, controllers of personal behavior, and "organizers" of the economy, and dispensers of other people's hard-earned incomes.
Perhaps American liberty is best symbolized by the "Lady in the Harbor," who, by the way, seems to have survived nature's fury, as if to say: "Rediscover and return to the principles and ideas of liberty which made America a refuge for hurting and oppressed peoples from all over the globe!"
Open the floodgates of freedom so that love-motivated private charity can flourish; and as it flourishes, it points the gratitude of recipients to the God who inspires it, not to government.
