Surely Obama’s shining “Sandy” moment would erase four years of historic failure, systematic deception, and endless excuses.

” - - - Elected with a significant mandate and his party briefly in control of both houses of the Congress, Obama squandered the support of the nation.
Newsday endorses Romney.”

This is a brave Editor. True, he/she waited to endorse Romney with the minimum amount of time remaining for the commie/union/Mafia goons to come in and “persuade” Newsday to toe the party line.

This Editor is from the JFK wing of the once proud Democrat Party. The wing that gave our Nation the ringing goal of “Ask not what your Country can do for you [= need], ask rather what you can do [ability] for your Country.”

Fast forward to today and JFK’s statement is reversed, but they still call themselves Democrats.

What Benghazi-Coward Obama has done is to rob all dignity from his office, and rob our Country of Hope.

I credit the storms of Irene (14 months ago) and Sandy with part of Newsdays choice of support for Romney. Romney is a bean-counter. He loves data. He loves planning.

Irene came 14 months ago, flooded the lower parts of NYCity, BUT NO FEDERAL CHANGES WERE MADE before Sandy flooded the same areas, only more so.

Obama failed to plan, and thus he planned to fail.

Newsday is the shorter fraternal twin of the NY Times. This is beyond shocking.

The comments are illustrative - not one of them can defend Obama, they just trash Romney.

Crazy, right? Just waiting for the trifecta when the Daily News comes on board! :)

Daily News is not on the right but they are nowhere near NY Times / Newsday which are both leftist crap. Romney is a perfect Republican for the Daily News to endorse. It would not shock me at all if they did so.

Not a shocker since Zuckerman endorsed W in 2004. However, it will be a surprise to their Obama-loving readers. :)

“And intentionally waiting until the last minute to do so.”

You realize, of course, there were more immediate and pressing matters going on on Long Island over the past week or so????

How could we not? But, that may not have anything to do with this endorsement running on the editorial page when it did.

And they had to hold the editorial page open last Fri or Sat for what reason?

One could check the timing of former Newsday endorsements, but usually newspapers do them in the last week or two before the election. LINY was fully consumed for days before and certainly since with the effects of Sandy.

Some out there still don’t have power. A LINY friend just got her power back today, has to deal with the total loss of her car, flooding on the lower level of her house, and still considers herself one of the lucky ones. I doubt she much cares who Newsday endorses, much less when they did the endorsement.

oh, gee, no one knew last Friday or Saturday that a major storm was heading to Long Island !!! Are you series? *I* was out doing my shopping and preps on Friday and we weren’t in the same line as LINY.

It has been interesting that these newspapers have endorsed the Republican ticket. I was wondering about this and the only explanation I have is that they know if the current economic conditions continue or worsen, many of these newspapers will have to shut down and these reporters will be looking at a career change. They know that the Romney ticket offers a better chance of survival. So survival trumps ideology.
