Well, it finally happened. The mainstream media have figured out that Benghazi is a big story and potentially a serious national security scandal. After weeks of silence, a plethora of mainstream media news stories have popped.
As he has from the get-go, Eli Lake makes news, writing: On the night of the 9/11 anniversary assault at the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, the Americans defending the compound and a nearby CIA annex were severely outmanned. Nonetheless, the State Department never requested military backup that evening, two senior U.S. officials familiar with the details of military planning tell The Daily Beast. Lake observes that although assets likely would not have arrived in time to save Ambassador Chris Stevens, military backup may have made a difference at around five the following morning, when a second wave of attackers assaulted the CIA annex where embassy personnel had taken refuge. It was during this second wave of attacks that two ex-SEALs working for the CIAs security teams Glenn Doherty and Tyrone Woods were killed in a mortar strike.
However, Lake is no longer the only reporter hammering away at the case.

And Valerie Jarret is the conduit to Iran...

Jarrett always "whispers" in Obama's ears. On everything.
Huma "whispers" in Hillary's ears.
Her deceased father was Muslim Brotherhood.
Her mother and brother still are.
Surely Romney will make this a number one priority. It shows systemic issues dangerous to American security. CIA, FBI, SOS immediately need to be cleaned out. It would only be natural to see how these agencies are working - only natural for a new president to do as part of their duty.
If he goes out about this way (with Congressional hearings, etc.) it won't be him gunning for Petraeus, Panetta, Clinton, etc.
But, during the course of hearings surely Petraeus, Panetta, Clinton, etc. names will come up. Obama wanted justice for this.
I hope Romney supplies it.
Playing prevent defense is usually a loosing strategy, I hope that it is not in Romney's case.
[ Im sure that the Sunday talk shows will discuss Libya in depth. sarc ]
They might. They’d rather talk about that than Sandy.
Lets not forget the Iranian-born White House staffer Valerie Jarrett.
It might not have occurred to everyone here that we push a lot of things out in the open. If we hammer away steady enough and long enough people start to ask questions.
I would guess it's the same motivation the Taliban has for attacking U.S. installations in Afghanistan. They want the U.S. out. Earlier this year the British post in Benghazi and the Red Cross operation were abandoned after being attacked. The U.S. consulate and the CIA post were probably seen as obstacles to Al Qaeda or their Libyan cohorts from taking over.
He did let others bring it up, like at the rally last night where Guiliani and others slammed Obama over it. But they can answer questions from the press; for Romney to put himself "out there" to respond to questions could prove a little awkward.
Speaking of awkward responses, in an article discussing Hillary Clinton's role in Benghazi-gate our esteemed Secretary of State offered this pearl of wisdom:
"I think intelligence is very hard to do."
NS Sherlock!
I mean tactically. It wasn’t to kill, obviously. Leaving only one other explanation IMO - kidnapping.
You're probably right. When the terrorists entered the building where Stevens and Smith took refuge they discovered the Americans were protected by a steel cage around the safe room. Since they didn't have equipment like a cutting torch or saw to get through this barrier they went outside and set fire to the building. They may have assumed the fire would force Stevens and Smith out of the building. The terrorists had RPGs. If the mission was to kill the ambassador they could have fired at the safe room repeatedly until they blasted a hole into the room and killed these guys. (An RPG HEAT round will penetrate 1.5 meters of concrete and at least six inches of steel.)
