As lights have begun flickering on in Lower Manhattan, residents of the Rockaways in Queens continued struggling without power, heat or food for a sixth day as their neighborhood slowly descended into chaos. With little police presence on the storm-ravaged streets, many residents of the peninsula have been forced to take their protection into their own hands, arming themselves with guns, baseball bats and even bows and arrows to ward off thugs seeking to loot their homes. It has been reported that crooks have been disguising themselves as Long Island Power Authority workers and coming by homes on the peninsula in the middle of the night while real utility workers were nowhere to be found.

Why is it, as I’ve noticed before, that the UK Daily Mail frequently seems to better cover US events better than our own vaunted media?
Time for some neighborhood watch self defense war planning. With smarts, the weak can defeat the strong.
Thanks for the ping.
A head on a pike is the, if I may say, alpha deterrent.
Location, location, location...
That’s why I live more than one tank of gas away from any large population center. One of the reasons.
The kids are grown and gone. All my grandkids have at least met me. I like to hunt and 'dance', and maybe some folks in the area might need someone to watch over them if things get ugly. I do like to help my neighbors.

Evidently they haven't been told that when they print the truth Soetoro/Marshall Davis Jr./Hussein/zero can't get reelected.
Preppers’ PING!!!
MUST READ POST #14
Thank you for the update.
The gas dividing line has moved south to Ramsey NJ, on Rte 17, all supply coming out of the Newburgh terminal. Not sure about areas closer to the Hudson between Newburgh and NJ border, closer the the TappenZee Bridge.
My thought and prayers with you all on LI.
“I stuck it on a pike to keep it out of the dirt until I could process it. 2 minutes, tops to remove and put on a pike.”
Beautiful.
I want you on my team as camp cook the next time I form up an expedition to go searching the Amazon River basin for missing explorer Percy Harrison Fawcett.
I love spit-roasted barbecue.
Thank you so much for the update!
I expect he's no longer among the living. Waste of time to go looking.
I've done my field days. I don't volunteer for stuff like that anymore. ;)

The message I read on another forum; I’m far, far away from the destroyed area, thankfully.
I just feel more peaceful being so remote.
Of course there are sluggards/knaves and whatnot everywhere, but in a much lower proportion and numbers.
So glad Obammie the Commie stopped by and lifted his arms and calmed and cured and fixed everything that was wrong in that area.
But I'm where I'm going to die, either of old age, angry husband, or riots. I know every rock and tree in a half mile. I ran this land before I wore pants. And probably will after I quit wearing them.
Hell, I was born here, I was raised here, and dag nabbit, no sidewindin', bushwhackin', hornswogglin' cracker-croaker is gonna ruin my biscuit cutter. (thanks Gabby)

Someone want to explain who or what a "Gibsmedat" is...
from urban dictionary
1. Gibsmedat
“Gibs-Me-Dat” (n.) Annuities, in the form of goods, services, or material (usually welfare checks) given predominately to minorities, in exchange for their tacit agreement to reciprocate by not burning down America’s cities.
“Yo Tyrone, who you be votin foe in 2012?”
“I gots to go wit Obama baby. The democrats be givin out moe betta gibsmedat.”
