Jeb Bush believes Texas will be “blue” by 2016
NBC Latino ^ | Oct 16 2012 | Patricia Diez

A lot can change in just four years. For former Florida Governor Jeb Bush a four-year timetable is enough for a significant shift for the Republican party. He tells Joe Hagan of New York magazine: “It’s a math question. Four years from now, Texas is going to be a so-called blue state. Imagine Texas as a blue state, how hard it would be to carry the presidency or gain control of the Senate.” Hagan starts the article for New York magazine with this idea that Texas’ rapidly changing demographic will unfavorably affect the Republican party. He writes: “Sitting down across from me, [Jeb] assumes his role as party Cassandra, warning of the day when the Republicans’ failure to tap an exploding Hispanic population will cripple its chances at reclaiming power—starting in Texas, the family seat of the House of Bush.” If this is a problem for the Republican party, Hagan believes Bush is just the solution: “a popular two-time governor of a Hispanic-heavy state, with a record of improving education for minorities, fluent in Spanish, married to a Latina, and father to two Hispanic sons, George P. Bush and Jeb Jr.

Freepers, This is truly a concern for our side. Hispanics can be a natural part of the conservative constituency but, until we get an immigration reform bill, they will bt default vote democrat. So, I don’t give a crap who wins the presidency this Tuesday, before the next midterms we have to have immigration reform.

Now, I’m not talking about Amnesty and call it good. I’m talking about real reform that basically makes woking in this country illegally an absolute impossibility and that also punishes employers for cheating. This will probably give rise to higher food prices, hotel bills, construction cost but, it is absolutely worth it. Plus, it will end the exploitation of low wage workers which is how it should be sold politically.

At this time, we have some leverage to shape the bill. If we let Texas get over run by illegals the game will be up. The Dems will be like the PRI in Mexico. Open borders!! I’m being totally serious. We can’t let this skip through another legislation session. We must take a stand before we get buried politically.

The hispanic George Bush has been busy in Texas establishing himself a network of politicos. Scoff at your own peril...the kid has ambitions.

I will never vote for a Bush ever again. They are rabid Statists. I will gladly vote for a RAT over these fake Conservatives.

Our Republic has millions of able citizens that would be a better President than any Bush. We don't need rulers.

The Bush family are nothing but a bunch of elitists.

Be advised that every poll to date among legal Hispanics reveals that, as a group, they are against "amnesty" and for securing the border by roughly 60-35.

And why shouldn't they be. All have earned their citizenship by being born here or done it the hard way, emigrated legally. They are Americans first.

Only the anti-American radicals of La Raza and the illegals are in favor of so-called "comprehensive" immigration reform.

Agree but he is correct about where this once great nation is headed. I doubt after this election there will ever be anyone conservative elected. Again, follow the dots. Seriously, have a plan, if you can, of escaping this country if Big Ears stays in. There is a small chance of turning it around somewhat with Mittins & a (R) Senate. Otherwise, it is all over. The commies have won.

Yes, we have to get across the simple idea that brains are for thinking and skin color is a really strange way to form opinions. We have to also slay the idea that “free stuff” exists. You pay with your indebitness, dependence, and your vote to hand over control of your future. Someone else pays for your stuff in other ways and against their will and it is immoral. Finally, using the better parent model, anyone can understand that the parent who leaves the training wheels on so you don’t ever scrape your knee, who doesn’t make you earn your car keys, who gives you what you want, loves the idea that you “love” and “need” them, far more than they really love YOU..

This is pretty much hooey from the get-go.

To start with, ethnically Mexican voters are not monolithic, and the more successful they are as American citizens, the more likely they are to vote Republican. They are integrating faster than is typical for immigrants traditionally.

The Bush family found allegiance with RINO Republicans by asserting that the Republicans would only attract ethnic Mexicans by being more centrist and liberal. In fact, the opposite is true. Ethnic Mexicans are attracted to the Republican party out of conservative and religious values, not a sense of moderation or liberalness.

Texas is the biggest “melting pot” for ethnic Mexicans of any of the border states. In California they segregate into ethnic communities, but in Texas they integrate with Anglos and find opportunity much faster.

The top issues for ethnic Mexicans in Texas are also unexpected. The number 1 issue is children’s education. Second and third were excessive federal spending and cuts to *Medicare*. Importantly, *not* Medicaid, but Medicare.

Number four was immigration, but not what you might imagine. The specifics of immigration policies are not that big a deal. What does get their attention is that if immigration policies racially disdain ethnic Mexicans. They deeply resent “demonizing” ethnic Mexicans, illegal or legal, when immigration is discussed.

This is a clear and easy to understand message to Republicans. Keep the immigration debate objective, and do not express what can be thought of as racist disdain for Hispanics. Which is not unreasonable.

The Republicans do have to overcome a lot of Democrat propaganda that they are racists and anti-Hispanic; but most are persuaded far more by deeds than words, and if Republicans behave themselves and stick to conservatism, Hispanics will increasingly embrace them.

Assuming there are 30 million illegals in America, that's enough to create some 50 congressional districts and they don't even need to vote to do it. If they do vote, you can pretty much count on those districts being almost exclusively democrat. As it is we don't know how many districts exist almost wholly due to the presence of illegals.

The costs of administering a single district must run into the millions. How much pork can a district seek? How many earmarks? What will all those new democrat congressmen vote for?

If you think Obamacare is bad, you haven't seen squat. Wait till the day all those democrats start dictating how many cars a family can have, what job you can have, or where you can live. Wait till they dictate that all paychecks come from government and you get a small cut of what is left over.

Illegals are nothing but government growth hormone and amnesty today is nothing short of treason.

“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years.” ― Alexis de Tocqueville

The last time Texas voted for the democrat for President was in 1976 and that was Jimmy Carter. In total since 1900 Texas has voted Republican 16 times out of 28 elections. The demographics of Texas is changing from within and from outside the US. At some point but I don’t think it will be 2016 Texas will be up for grabs by the democratic party. JMO.

Um, no. Texas will not swing 12% in 4 years. This election will show that Texas is “redder” than ever.

I agree. My family has been in the Republic of Texas since 1839 and I just don't see a shift. Illegals can't legally vote. The voter ID law is still being litigated but it will be cleared. And we have conservatives from other blue states coming here to escape their Liberal utopias. The liberals that I know personally can be counted on one hand with fingers left over...
