A lot can change in just four years. For former Florida Governor Jeb Bush a four-year timetable is enough for a significant shift for the Republican party. He tells Joe Hagan of New York magazine: Its a math question. Four years from now, Texas is going to be a so-called blue state. Imagine Texas as a blue state, how hard it would be to carry the presidency or gain control of the Senate. Hagan starts the article for New York magazine with this idea that Texas rapidly changing demographic will unfavorably affect the Republican party. He writes: Sitting down across from me, [Jeb] assumes his role as party Cassandra, warning of the day when the Republicans failure to tap an exploding Hispanic population will cripple its chances at reclaiming powerstarting in Texas, the family seat of the House of Bush. If this is a problem for the Republican party, Hagan believes Bush is just the solution: a popular two-time governor of a Hispanic-heavy state, with a record of improving education for minorities, fluent in Spanish, married to a Latina, and father to two Hispanic sons, George P. Bush and Jeb Jr.

And Dallas.
I don’t know about 4 years but I think it will eventually be democrat. Between liberals fleeing the mess they’ve created here in the north and illegals invading from the south, I think its inevitable.
To all you California bashers, this is what happened to California. He is probably right and this will happen to yet more states.
You cheap labor republicans are going to find out that cheap labor isn’t so cheap in the end.
Imagine Texas as a blue state, how hard it would be to carry the presidency or gain control of the Senate.Texas was "blue" in the past, until at last we got the habitual ballot box stuffer LBJ as POTUS. Eventually even John "JFK Death Car" Connally dumped the Demwits and went Pubbie, Nixon beat Humphrey in a squeaker, and the Senate went "red" for two years.
Shut your pie hole, you RINO slug.
Not so likely. Maybe the current mayor of San Antonio in 2020. He's basically Obama II.
Gone will be Texas, Florida, California, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Colorado and lots of other states you might not expect (North Carolina, Georgia, Iowa...).
Not every state that has some Mexicans in it is Mexicanized. It's going to be a long time before Iowa goes that way. There are more Hispanics (by percentage of the population) in Idaho or Kansas or Rhode Island or Hawaii than there are in North Carolina or Georgia, and somehow I don't see Kansas or Idaho becoming part of Aztlan any time soon.
Exactly.
On the bright side, the liberals fleeing to Texas are allowing states like Michigan and Wisconsin to drift to the right.
The hispanic George Bush has been busy in Texas establishing himself a network of politicos. Scoff at your own peril...the kid has ambitions.
Back when we didn’t have to give free healthcare and social services and English lessons in schools to the illegals, they DID assimilate because the ones that came here came to work hard and better themselves. The ones I knew were pretty conservative. Now they just demand freebies ( a lot of them anyway). I’ve lived back and forth CA and TX and seems to me the CA aliens are much more demanding.
I diagree..look at CA...used to be Republican state..my wife and I have considered moving from OR to TX but wtih the inevitable move for TX towards a democratic state, we figured it wouldnt make a difference long term and have decided to stay put...
My grandson in Corvallis started kindergarten this year in a school that made all the kids taught half the day in Spanish. Thankfully my daughter moved him to a different school because the poor kid was so confused and hated it.
We could use some more real conservatives here in the midwest. We’re drifting rightward but more conservatives would make it a faster process.
These days democrats are virtually powerless in the Michigan government so now we’re turning our fire on the RINOs.
the big question though is WHY?
why would new immigrants want failed fiscal policy, no opportunities, no high end jobs, no future?....
poor roads?...poorer schools?...unfit teachers?....forced homosexuality teaching in grade schools?...
the new illegals or immigrants don't know it but their best chance in life is a strong industrious country with multiple job opportunities...
we have to convince them of that....
Rubio and other well spoken Hispanics could do that for us...
Do not think I do not manscape!
The San Antonio mayor is still a pup, isn’t he? Maybe by 2020 like you said, he’ll be ready. He was my #2 choice for 2016 but I’ll stick with Villrageoesa or whatever the hell that L.A. slimeball’s name is. The Rats have already featured both of them in DNC convention prime time, to get the nation “ready”.
Iowa may not go down the tubes (it may already be there; we’ll see on Tuesday) when amnesty removes any fear that the immigration bogeymen may be waiting at the polling place, but those other unlikelies such as NC and GA have a real good chance, especially NC.
All across the USA, they are not going to pass up the big opportunity to vote for one of their own kind for President, the same disastrous dynamic we first saw in 2008, but with a different group of voters. Not to mention more than enough guilty white liberal voters to go along for the feel-good story of the year, just like in 2008.
The Bush traitors just will not give up on their love of all things Hispanic! FU Jeb, the white non-hispanic vote will put Mitt over the top and you will be a non starter in 2016
Between the illegals invading from the south and the libs invading from the west and northeast, JEB might be far off. I used to know every one of my neighbors within a mile or two. Out here in nowhere, we’ve been invaded by wacky libs so I try not to know any of them. Do y’all realize that Texas gained 4 electoral votes this time? FOUR! That didn’t come from us birthin’ a bunch of babies but from outsiders moving in.
Jeb, STFU, your brother George has done enough damage already................
I am a native Texan. Anything is possible with our leaky borders. Don’t forget it is not just Mexicans coming here through Mexico. Other illegals get in that way, too.
I have a very dear family friend (whose parents are Mexican heritage and legal citizens), she has lived here all her life, and her adult children are all conservatives. I think she is independent. She raised 3 children as a single mom, taking jobs wherever she could in catering, etc. She would not be caught dead taking gov’t assistance. One time her home burned down, and I think she may have gotten help then. She amazes me.
Well this may seem racist, but I think the Mexicans at least have a work ethic and are family centered Christians. I would suffer that any day as opposed to Muslims that want Shariah law.
Most (Mexican) illegals come here to work, then send their money back home to take care of their families. Yes they burden our system and are probably going to vote democrat....but are they LIBERAL? I think some of them may have too much macho pride to continue with taking handouts. They may also be turned into conservatives at some point. They are not stupid.
I guess my question would be: Who wouldn’t want to go to any means possible to take care of their family? They go where the jobs are..however menial they be. (Jobs other people of all races would not touch.) Who wouldn’t want to get medical attention here?
These people are desperate for a better life and the shortcut is to come here illegally. Our goal should be to offer them another avenue to come here legally so they can contribute legally. They should come here, work and pay taxes like the rest of us. I think perhaps the only entitlement they feel is that Texas was stolen from them and we should allow them to be here.
As conservatives, I think we also have to be concerned about with the Austin fruits and nuts, universities teaching liberalism, and general influx of liberals moving here from all over the country.
