To NJ Freepers: Is there any chance that NJ might go red b/c of frustration over the lack of relief and/or b/c the blue areas are most affected.

I don’t think so, but much of the rest of the country might see long lines for gas, no power, people displaced from their homes, and lots of in-fighting (i.e. people vs utility workers), and they might start to wonder whether Obama did any good (politically) visiting the hard hit areas.

My Aunt lives in Jersey and she is telling anyone who will listen to Vote for Romney / Ryan.

Four years ago she Voted McCain, but to be honest she didn't think there was a dimes bit of difference between him and Obama. Now she knows what I was talking about.

NJ go red? LOL, are you serious? I live in South Central NJ in Ocean Township about 1.5 miles from the water and although we were very lucky to escape any damage at all save a few (very few) trees down, we did lose power for about 2.5 days.

That said NJ is as blue as blue gets mostly because of the minorities and the inner city people who live from handout to handout.

Many shore towns are an utter disaster but the media is not covering this, just reshowing Obama from 3 days ago looking what they call presidential.

The short answer is no way no how does NJ go red, at least not this time.

I believe NJ was already tenuous for Obama because the economy of this state has been in the toilet for a decade; people voted for Governor Christie out of frustration, and he remains popular after the layoffs of thousands of public school teachers, cops, and other government workers. The storm won’t be blamed on Obama, but it will add to the general discontent of a dying state. Even the welfare reservations are showing little enthusiasm for Obama; as blacks are increasingly marginalized by the Hispanics imported to replace them they no longer believe in “hope and change”. Whites dealing with the same issue with Asians have little to cheer about either.

Chances of NJ going “red” are slim, but it is not an outlandish possibility. It may be enhanced by the fact that most of the urban areas that serve as Democratic strongholds are among the hardest-hit parts of the state and might see low voter turnout.

I just got power back late yesterday afternoon. My son is in Brooklyn and called to tell me that one of the aerial shots of the Jersey shore showed “Romney” carved on the sand in big letters. I have no TV yet and don’t miss it one bit. My dear husband (and my trusty old transister radio) have been my life line. When the lights came back on I almost felt guilty and strangely enough my first instinct wasn’t to reach for the remote or power up the computer. No comcast cable and internet service and quite honestly I couldn’t care less. We were able to get gas yesterday. Our gas line was only four hours. What a difference a day makes. A lot of people here need help. Heading out soon to meet at the church.

Hard to say, but people who lost absolutely everything are being very vocal about the fact that FEMA, Bloomie, and Obama have done nothing to get basic supplies (water, food, sanitation, diapers, blankets) to them. The Red Cross has been trashed for bring hot chocolate and cookies to people who need clean water, food, and blankets.

The Marathon got cancelled after the outrage that supplies such as port-a-potties, generators, and water were going to marathoners and the media and that people who had evacuated in advance of Sandy were being evicted from hotels (who were giving them discount rates) for marathon participants.

I'm no fan of Christie, but Christie, an R, unlike Bloomie, a D, has not been hyping the everything is hunky dory meme. He seems to be working hard to expedite getting in fuel and getting electricity on line, calling attention to improvements while acknowledging the long haul ahead of us.

One hopes some people now realize the folly of depending upon the government and the emptiness of Zeros' 'Hope and Change'

I'm one of the lucky ones with electricity and TV has been flooded with extremely well done ads contrasting Zero's promises with economic reality.
