RNC pushes 6 states to fix machines that give Romney votes to Obama

RNC pushes 6 states to fix machines that give Romney votes to Obama

Joel Gehrke

Following reports that swing state voters attempting to cast a ballot for Mitt Romney saw the machine check President Obama’s name instead, the Republican National Committee is pushing six states to ensure that ballots are properly cast.

“I understand that, in a significant number of cases, voting machines in your states have populated a vote for Barack Obama when a voter cast his or her ballot for Mitt Romney,” wrote RNC chief counsel John Phillipe to secretaries of state in Nevada, Ohio, Kansas, North Carolina, Missouri, and Colorado. “I further understand that the causes of this problem are varied, and include miscalibration and hyper-sensitivity of the machines,” he acknowledged. But he called for four actions at the state level:

1. All voting machines be recalibrated before Election Day.

2. Additional technicians in the event of further issues.

3. Sign notification reminding voters to double-check the correctness of their ballot in the machine before final submission.

4. Verbal guidance to remind voters to make sure that the ballot they cast is correct.

“I believe these common-sense steps will greatly assist voters on Election Day,” he wrote.

Yesterday, the Marion Star (Ohio) reported on voting problems such as what Phillipe described. “Upon selecting ‘Mitt Romney’ on the electronic touch screen, Barack Obama’s name lit up,” the paper noted. “It took [the voter] three tries before her selection was accurately recorded.”

If this is a calibration error, why are the errors all going in zero’s direction. This is just fraud plain and simple. We are now no better then a third world shit whole country.

Makes me sick!

Quite possible that the election will be stolen. The seemingly bizarre poll numbers may simply be cover for massive vote fraud. If the MSM polls are calling it a close Obama victory then nobody will be shocked if it happens that way, even though we know the polls are skewed with an oversampling of Dems.

The only way to stop fraud is the Canadian system. We have scrutineers from each party at every polling booth. The metal box is locked when it gets to the polling station. It is opened in the presence of all scrutineers. They all count the number of ballots in the box. Each ballot has to be initialled before it’s given to the voter. When the voter brings back the marked ballot the piece with the initials is torn off before it goes in the box. Any spoiled ballot is initialled by each of the scrutineers and put in a separate envelope. When the voting is done, each ballot is shown to every scrutineer and counted at least twice. Any disputed ballot is put in a separate envelope that is sealed and initialled by the scrutineer. The tally at each poll has to be certified by each scrutineer. I’ve worked in polls many times and this is about as foolproof a system as I’ve seen for ensuring that votes are not miscounted. And having to produce ID in order to vote greatly reduces the risk of ineligible voters. Electronic voting has the potential for totalitarianism - see Hugo Chavez

Because it's NOT a calibration error? That would be my guess...

Must be just a coincidence that none of the votes are going from hussein to Romney.

The Canadian system sounds like a great idea and should be instituted immediately.

But with so many Democrats running so many things, and with far too many spineless Republicans in the House and Senate, it will never be accepted because it minimizes fraud, and we all know that with the lack of action by Republicans in power, they don’t care about it.

That’s another reason (in addition to the possibility of major disruptions from weather, etc, on Election Day) why an extended voting period (minimum two weeks IMO) should be standard procedure.

I read something about the miscalibration of these voting machines several months ago. As I recall these machines were supplied by George Soros people. Does anyone have that story? There was plenty of time ahead of this election for the RNC to check this out and not wait until 4 days before the election to look into it.

How do we know they are all benefiting Obama? Perhaps only Romney voters are diligent enough to confirm their vote.

Think about down ticket races. Would you notice?

You need a machine with your votes and your voter number (ordinal). Put the results online with a searcheable code that gives the vote totals by precinct. This garbage would end quickly.

Perhaps not, though. With government such a rich prize the Willie Suttons of the world are bound to find a way to rob elections. This is simply another reason why government needs to be smaller.

“scrutineers”, I like that word!

We should all be scrutineers. It gives us a fighting chance.

I have a touchscreen GPS that is constantly out of calibration. I type A and get B, B and get C, etc.

Let me guess...it's a Tom Tom.

Actually it’s a Garmin. But it’s from 2005, very early on the market, so I’m assuming they’ve improved since then. I go through the recalibrate procedure and it fails, then suddenly one day it works ok.

It also reboots itself whenever it can’t find a street in its database. Talk about ungraceful error handling. Serious software fail. I’d be ashamed to have written that.
