I live here and none of this is surprising. NYC is a textbook story of what NO TO DO in most instances.

I say no, probably not. This is similar to the stories of the rapes in the stadium that were reported but never really happened.

Government help is the very least efficient help. It can even be a hindrance, because people sit and wait for it instead of helping themselves and their families before the situation becomes catastrophic.

Fox: Staten Island people in the streets fighting one another for food, water, clothing

Sounds like the Third World Utopia Barry has been touting. Well, New Yawk is a true blue state having elected scum like Hildabeast, and voting for Barry Benghazi in '08, so you 'Reap What You Sow' - and you better not be drinking a 20 oz Coke - Bloomie will have you hauled off!

Too bad that a lot more weren’t able to evacuate—but I don’t that anyone could have predicted the effect the storm had on NYC.

Isn’t Staten Island noticeably more “red” than the rest of the city? If so,that would explain a lot.

My brother is in East Rockaway - which got hammered.

No electricity, no fuel, no stores, no heat - no nothing since the storm. The entire area is literally dead-in-the-water.

The Red Cross and other liberal nonprofits will be there soon - with offers of free counseling... it's part of their ‘keep liberals hired and with jobs’ program Food? Real help? Nope that doesn't employ those who live in LaLa Land...

By 4 days after Katrina Bush had taken over from an incompetent mayor and governor, and marshalled resources to evacuate 40,000 people from New Orleans

This was the President blamed by the NYC-based MEdia for failing leadership.

Where is blubber-baby Shep Smith now? Where is Whorealdo Rivera?

Bloomberg marshalled resources to run the NYC marathon and Christie walked the beaches with obama hugging people and obama is on the campaign trail

The generators are privately-funded and privately-owned, according to a marathon spokesman quoted by the Post:

The New York Road Runners Club, which organizes the world-famous race, is paying for the generators, which were supplied by Long Island-based On Site Energy for the massive, 80-yard-long tent.

If my facts are correct isn’t Staten Island one of the boroughs? All disarmed citizenry thanks to Bloomberg.
No legal guns to defend yourself or property, you will end up getting arrested and face the courts and jail time after everything is settled, if you shot at a looter.

I can’t think of a worse place to live.

Reverend Jesse Jackson claimed that racism was a factor in the slow government response, stating that “many black people feel that their race, their property conditions and their voting patterns have been a factor in the response.”

Commentator Lou Dobbs of CNN has claimed that local officials should bear some responsibility, saying that “the city of New [York] Orleans is 70% black, its mayor is black, its principal power structure is black, and if there is a failure to the black Americans, who live in poverty and in the city of New [York] Orleans, those officials have to bear much of the responsibility.”

Oh wait...that was what the media reported in 2005, but wait, it applies to New York (crickets....).
