Get this: the presidential race is so close that rich, white San Franciscans are having trouble exercising in their home gyms or getting proper sleep at night. Take, for instance, the story of Obama campaign volunteer Kay Edelman:
For the past several weeks, the 60-year-old San Francisco resident has frequently bolted awake in the middle of the night, in “a panic attack,” she said. She darts for her computer and checks the latest polls. Some days she’s so distraught that she can’t exercise.
Every morning, she gets e-mails from friends who’ve been just as sleepless. Most are so tense, they can croak out only a few words. “Very anxious.” “Worried.”
“Nothing more needs to be said,” said Edelman, a retired educational administrator.
I’m certainly not immune to worry over the election or the fate of the country, but let me pose a question for stressed-out liberals. Why do you continue to vote to make the federal government and the leaders at its helm an ever-more present and powerful part of every part of our lives when you know there’s a chance every four years a guy you won’t like will be at the helm? If it’s going to stress you out this much who has the levers of power, perhaps you should work toward making the levers less powerful?
I will say she’s kinda cute for a 60 year old neo-Fascist Regressive.
He is so up tight about the election, he won't watch the news, would not watch the debates, will not talk about the election. He had a heart cath and stint put in two weeks ago. That can't totally fix his heart. I fear he will drop dead if Hussein wins and I'm serious.
His wife wrote me several weeks ago and said she isn't watching news, either, and to let her know if something happens she should know. I wrote her about the storm in the northeast so she would know that happened.
They are not alone in their misery I'm sure. Millions are suffering until this election is over and if Hussein wins, I feel sure hospitals are going to get many older patients whose bodies collapse. I never thought this would happen to anyone in any election in my life and my life is a long one.

EPA(Nixon), Homeland Security(Bush II), the TSA(Bush II), etc etc....
Republicans are just as guilty as Democrats when it comes to installing new levers of powers in Washington DC.
In fact some the of levers installed by Republican Presidents have been while they “compromised” with the Democrats...
Isn’t it amazing that the largest concentration of the “1 percenters” live in the bluest enclaves within the U.S.??
If anybody thinks the libs were unhinged in 2000, just wait till they lose next week.

Think about it. They came into the 2000 election with 8 years of Clinton and the next “Oracle” ready to carry them into a future utopia. The economy hadn’t yet crashed and how could some “yahoo” from Texas win without cheating ?
Now they got their “Messiah”
All will be good in the world again after 8 years of cowboys and oil men.
Not only did they get the win in 2008, they won big !!!
Anybody that is so committed to this current administration and the “Hope & Change” polices of their fearless leader, to continue to support him, are going to crash really hard when he is voted out.
It’s going to be like cult members learning that it’s been one big fraud.
Some will accept it and move on, but the true believers will go nuts and will provoke others to act out.
The true believers are loud, elitists with money. They will get sympathy from their cohorts in the media.
This fight is far from over.
Winning this election is just the first step.
The battle is on.

What is funny is that there are “Religious People” who are just as spiritually dead as she is and Atheists that are Not Spiritually dead, I know that doesn’t make sense but I have seen it.
Compare her with Penn Gillette of Penn and Teller who is a friend of Glenn Beck, you look at him and he may be misguided about faith (he is an atheist) but he still has that twinkle in his eye that says he has inner spirit... (he is also very much a Libertarian who is into personal liberty)
You look at this poor pathetic human being who probably “believes” in new age mysticism and all see is a dark void where her should should be.
I personally think that a lot of the people who are liberals are people who are literally missing a piece or all of their “soul” and they walk around all their lives like zombies looking for meaning in their live and latching onto other people for this. Which is why they are such easy recruits for the “cult of progressive socialism”, because by both being controlled and controlling others they view themselves as “trendy” and “in control.”
I would rather deal with a Godless Atheists who are Libertarians than these soulless monsters who are control freaks ANY day of the week.
You have stated it very well. And many of us ‘libertarian’ Republicans are for tying the hands of government so that it cannot dominate. The founders wished it so. The Declaration of Independence states it, and the Constitution clarifies on that. It is important that we remember, the Founders gave us a Constitutional Republic. We must have that fully restored...or we have nothing.

Liberalism is an Elitist mentality, they view the cities they live in as their castles and the poor they pass in the smelly city streets as their serfs that they “graciously” feed with their tax monies like some “benevolent king or queen”.
They pass the responsibility of not personally doing something for the poor onto the “benevolent government” that they feel they must support because they are “rulers in their own little kingdom of delusion”.
Living in a highrise apartment is like living in a Castle, you are well above all the “little people” who live in suburbs and the lower middle class and middle middle class in the suburbs are like the merchant class of old that they resent because their settlements are encroaching upon their “king’s ‘hunting’ lands” and they feel somewhere in their subconscious that the merchants should live like the poor serfs because the serfs don;t ever dare build themselves up to challenge their own power.
I have over the years see this “Progressive Socialism” as nothing more than a form of “Neo-Feudalism” for the people who believe they are better than everyone else because they learned the secret useless handshakes at the ivory town school their parents paid for. This “Neo-Fuedalism” is just a dressed up version of same old damn story that all tyrants have been selling to their serfs when they tell the peasants that they can live behind the castle walls for their own protection you see, and that the peasants cannot have weapons to protect themselves, the king will because you know they would only hurt themselves you see????
Hang in there, erod. You’ll make it. My daughter graduated in ‘07, worked a year, went back to school at the University of British and earned her masters degree (full boat, too), worked a series of menial jobs making good enough money, landed a contract position at the transit agency doing system planning and then this summer landed a plum job leading a market research team at a major resort. It just takes perseverance and willingness to take whatever comes your way to get started and work your way up. These aren’t the easiest times, but winners always prosper.

Many have said here that the liberals worship a false God - namely, the government. In fact, the government is run by a group of their fellow humans. So, they elevate fallible humans to the role of God - and their 'god' does a lot of smiting, just not of them.

I’ve been trying to formulate arguments on how to present certain information that can change peoples worldview. Or at least get them to start thinking for themselves and begin the process of discovery.

Complete introvert here, but I have no problem getting up in front of a group of strangers and speaking passionately about something I believe.
Won’t do it in front of folks I know.
They fear conservatives, because they fear all the possibilities free people would have available to them.
They don’t trust free people, because they don’t trust themselves.
You hit the nail right on the head. That's why you've had to put up with "the paranoid style in American governance" for so long. The "style" that pegs ordinary law-abiding Americans as "domestic terrorists," to name one obvious example.
Are they liars, or are they psychotic? It's a question that needs to be asked. Unfortunately, either answer doesn't bode much that's good for you.
