The “Rose Garden” strategy.
All you have to do is look presidential - and if you’re the President, you already have a built-in advantage that no challenger can command.
Well it could be true, but this is a death spasm move. Nothing has worked, nothing will work, so Obama's team just wants to run out the clock. I think the internals have got to be awful and the early reults are awful. He is looking at a blowout and is mailing it in. The long knives are coming out, Rush talked about it today. The true beleivers like the Kos Kids and the Chicago left are beginning to grumble, that Obama does not really want it. Obama sees Ohio as a goner, Iowa,NH, Nevada, Florida, NC, Va and it looks bleak in Wis, Michigan and Pa. Its over and has been over.
He, or Ann, can have a backdrop of supplies being handed out and what services are being set up and where. The MSM can call it political all they want - it won't work.
Rush just said 0 is actually gathering with lawyers to strategize "the situation" while taking time off the campaign. Ha!
I will be surprised if I am wrong about this -
0bama’s reputation is built in long hence, and no amount of “pretending he is president” now is going to make a whit of difference to voters. Though -bama, Axlerod, and crew are now reduced to gambling that the effect you are touting will have a useful effect, I believe that something else will occur:
The “base” and “reachable” voters for him who need to constantly be fed hype in order to get out of their comfort zone to vote will lose energy rapidly, just like the “superstorm Sandy” is now barely producing 30mph gusts 20 hours after landfall. Democrats turnout will go down next Tuesday due to this. Those who are voting for R&R, or who are “reachable” by R&Rm will not be affected by any such slowdown. That is due to R&R voters being far more likely to be self starters, and TeaPartiers, and we have been crawling over broken glass ever since we accosted the Senate with phone calls and much more over the 2007 immigration bill. We have not tired, nor will we.
I wager that the result will be a major swing this week toward the whole GOP ticket, at all levels, in every state. Much as the loss of McCain’s electoral position ‘08 is now blamed on his “suspending his campaign” due to the “economic crisis”, the coming ‘12 debacle for the Dems will be blamed on -bama leaving the field, to pretend to be president, leaving the rest of the Dems to drift by themselves. Not even the upcoming film/TV feature that Hollywood and the Dinosaur TV networks are now working with the Whitehouse to produce and air this weekend featuring the fearless exploits of the “storm-battered president” will manage to change it. People will see it as simple pretense.
