I’ve had over 2” of rain since yesterday. Not much wind and no storm surge to speak of.
Of course, I’m in Idaho.

Live just outside of Norfolk, VA. and so far it’s been pretty tame honestly, hoping it stays that way. There has been a consistent light to moderate rainfall since yesterday with light winds, not enough to pick up anything. My power is still on, even the direct tv is still on which is surprising since it usually goes out with even a mild storm. Many people going to work as usual, my husband being one of them. There are a few areas of minor flooding, but those spots usually do flood with most storms. So far, I feel like we’ve been lucky. Hopefully those of you up farther north get spared major damage too. Prayers sent.
Prayers sent to all those being impacted. Your safety comes first.
I have a sick feeling that the Kenyan is going to get a decent political bump out of this, which would make this the worst natural disaster in the history of our country.
Can anyone explain how it’s any different for Obama to “monitor” Sandy from the high perch in the Whitehouse from George Bush to “monitor” Katrina from Air Force One???

Electricity will be out during the election, is what the issue MIGHT be. Then, they will say if SOME have to postpone, then everyone should... The Dems know there people don’t like bad weather, and are prone to stay home even in good weather - yes, they are excuses, but if it gets really bad, expect the Dems and the media to push this idea. If counting counties in FL differently is unconstitutional, then how about having different abilities to vote because of power outages? They will try anything they can get away with...
It'll be a very patient noose, with many many sentries.
This extraordinarily large storm system is expected to directly impact lives and property of 25% of the U.S. population. Perhaps I missed your point.
I’m in Newport News and it has been nothing but a 2 day drizzle event. I did see a large oak across the road when I too the kid to Chick Fi La earlier. I’m surprised it fell, I haven’t heard any wind. Kind of a waste of a day. No reason they should have cancelled school for this and I had to take a vacation day.
Just heard Sandy picked up to 28 mph. Earlier landfall but less rain along its path.
Anyway to keep the GD political crap off this thread??? There those of us very concerned about the lives of loved ones. Don’t need to diminish this...

For that to happen, some people would have to switch back from Romney to Obama as a direct result of some storm-related Obama action. Unless he paddles out into 25 foot New Jersey surf on a Boogie board to rescue a drowning poodle (and that's Putin's style, not Obama's) it's hard to see just what he could do to convert semi-decided voters back to his side at this point. Looking Presidential in front of a teleprompter isn't going to cut it at this late date.
Why are you re-posting images that are visible at the top of the thread?
People are complete idiots about water.
They just don’t realize that water is virtually incompressible and how much it weighs and what getting pounded by walls of water can do to something.
There is precious little that can stand up to the force of storm surge, waves, and a high tide.
Thanks NN,getting bad with the wind and rain here in lower Bucks.Parts of Bensalem told to evacuate.
If a family member can be with him, I would seriously recommend it. Hospitals can become very dangerous places for the seriously sick when the SHTF. Not trying to scare you, but when the lights go out and medical staff panic, bad things can happen.
