Christie, who famously urged New Jersey residents last year to "get the hell off the beach" as Hurricane Irene approached, urged residents of the state's narrow barrier islands to move to higher ground. He predicted the storm would come ashore at Atlantic City around 2 a.m. Tuesday.

I don’t know what part of Tidewater you are in, but it has been a 3 day drizzle event in Newport News.
spasibo, comrade.

Atlantic City this morning:
You must be by me - I’m in Lacey, also about 2 miles west of Barnegat Bay. It gets eerily quiet and even stopped raining a few minutes ago, then the wind whipped up unbelievable.
Good luck- I figure tonight we lose the power - plenty of candles and even oil lamps on hand and lot’s of junk food, bread, and pb & j. Trees worry me also although last spring i cut down three bad ones.
For freepers who don’t know, Ocean County is a “liberated”
free red county in the socialist republic of New Jersey!
Lived in Lacey for years. Great town, if not a little crowded. Good luck.
As certain as the sun sets in the west, Geraldo will be standing on a rainless beach on Fox tonight, hair blowing in the wind, yelling above the non roar in the background about the severity of Franken-Fake.

I lived in Jackson Township for 22 years, just north of where you guys are. Please stay safe!
I'm in New Castle County, Delaware now, also expected to take a direct hit from the storm.
Thank you for a clear head.
People who are not likely to be affected - or - those who are just out of the storm’s path and all of whom are watching the News Channels or the Weather Channel 24/7 should just CHANGE CHANNELS OR TURN THE DAMN TV OFF!!!!!
That should stop the ‘HYPE’.
Causeways into AC are very low to the ground (swampland). Not sure if they’re open or not (conflicting stories out there). Same with Wildwood.
About 40 feet of boardwalk floating free in AC.

Sickening... Smarmy, contrived, arrogant douche
Thanks for the report.
Am quite familiar w your area. My cousins moved my aunt and uncle out of there two days ago and a second crew went in for prep. THey took a look at the surf with the few remaining able bodied young lads of the community.
They live a few blocks from the beach. Family’s been there for about a century. They and folks lke you, don’t need TWC to tell you something is on its way.
I live in north central CT. At one point most schools were going to do a half day. They they all closed Monday/Tues. As of noon is we have a light drizzle and some wind.
I can’t watch local news anymore. They are literally treating the storm moving say, 10 miles (as predicted) since the last broadcast as breaking news.
The press did exactly what it set out to do.
