Will Obama end up like Carter or Bush? (vanity)

Posted on 10/29/2012 12:17:37 AM PDT by StopDemocratsDotCom

All of these polls are neck and neck..every single one..it's like a roller coaster when one point goes back and forth for weeks, depending on the poll, state, etc. The only way I see Obama pulling this off is just like Bush did in 2004..a very very close race that came down to one race..but it begs the question..in 2004..were people hurting as bad as they are now?..did Bush have terrible approval ratings, were newspaper endorsements jumping ship from Bush to Kerry?...what does everyone thing?

My gut tells me that things are so bad and Obama’s approval is so bad that Romney will pull a 5 point victory..but part of me also thinks the messiah might be able to pull out a squeaker thanks to the media coverage, etc. etc.

Bush’s approval ratings were not very good but never as low as Obama’s (until his 2nd term).

Bush also had the media going full force against him. The National Guard story, the forged documents. In the final days, they were going all out with a “missing explosives” story.

The media also kept trying to make it look like Bush would lose. They said all the undecideds would go to Kerry, because he was the challenger. Interestingly, these same media pundits do not make that argument now. I think every single writer of Slate Magazine predicted Bush would lose. Every single one.

But throughout October, Bush consistently led in the national polls by at least 2% on average. Kerry never took the lead.

The state polls were a different story, and many speculated that Kerry would win the electoral college while losing the popular vote. Ohio did not flip in the polls from Kerry to Bush until the very final days of the campaign.

So basically, I see Romney as being in a much stronger position than Kerry was, but definitely not as strong as Reagan.

I thought you were talking about after office behaviour, not election results. I’m not sure about election results, but I will point out that Bush pere was rejected for re-election after having been at some astronomical approval level after the Gulf War I and with the economy in much better shape than it is now.

As to post-election behaviour I’m pretty sure Obama the commie is going to go full Angela Davis on us. Unless he decides to try and run again, but I don’t think that’s likely, esp. if the stories about the Hawaiian home are true.

It’s sooooo much better to be a rich commie in Hawaii than it is to actually WORK.

Too disgusted to believe Obama will be re-elected.

If Obama does win, I shall remain perfectly inconsolable for the entire day.

Was Kerry ahead +5 in the national polls?

I don't think so.

The polls are only close in the States because of the games the Pollsters are playing.

When Romney wins, They should be parachuted into Benghazi with a bayonet each, and just as much ammo as U.S. Ambassador to Libya J. Christopher Stevens, Tyrone Woods, Glen Doherty, and Sean Smith had.
And President Romney should give them the SAME SUPPORT
that they gave Chris Stevens, Glen Doherty, Sean Smith, and Tyrone S. Woods.

That would be justice!

Hopefully he’ll end up like Bush 41. Subpar economy trumps
foreign policy. And Bush’s FP was far superior to the Empty Chair’s.

were newspaper endorsements jumping ship from Bush to Kerry?....Newspapers didn’t jump from Bush to Kerry. They hated Bush and would have endorsed a crippled beaver over him. Instead they endorsed a crippled moronic fop.

i can’t believe you are all worrying. look at it this way.
forget the polls and the numbers, instead:

will less african americans vote for obama than in 08...yes
will less women vote for him than in 08................yes
will less white men vote for him than in 08............yes
will less independents vote for him than in 08........yes

will anyone who voted for mccain 08 vote for obama now?...no

where would obama get the votes to win?

It will be a Romney landslide that will sweep Republicans into Senate control on his coattails.

I think far too many people are worse off than four years ago; it will be hard for Obama to win. I think he will lose because of 1) the employment situation - both unemployment and falling wages, and 2) the inflation which is unreprted by his media, but visible to all who shop for groceries or gas their cars.

Carter and Bush had integrity, Carter was just wrong.

Obama wants to destroy America and has been lying every step of the way to achieve his objectives.

what does everyone thing?

I'm assuming a typo and you meant "think?"

I'll weigh in:

No only do I "think," but I "KNOW" that the RINO, Bush in 04 WOULD have lost, had he been facing ANY other RAT Candidate other than the bottom-feeding, scumbag, phony Vietnam Vet and TRAITOR, Jean Francois Kerry.

Most of us Conservatives were tired of W and leary of his "Compassionate Conservative" principles and policies.

However, the alternative, Kerry, was to most, a fate worst than death, thus we held our noses and voted for W.

The same can not be said to be in play now.

The "R's" who mistakenly voted for Dear Leader have seen the error of their ways and will not repeat their mistake. Likewise the many independents who favor Romney over O'Bummer.

Considering that those who admit to being Conservative are twice as many (40% to 20%)as those who say they are Libs, I am confident Mitt will pull this off.

Of course, I'm still praying like heck just to be on the safe side. lol
