McCain: Libya worst cover-up I've seen in my life

By SCOTT WONG | 10/28/12 11:19 AM EDT

Sen. John McCain said Sunday he was sure President Barack Obama would show leadership “in fine fashion” in response to Hurricane Sandy, but said his handling of the deadly Libya consulate attack was the worst “cover-up or incompetence” he had ever seen.

“This tragedy turned into a debacle and massive cover-up or massive incompetence is having an impact on the voters because of their view of commander in chief,” the Arizona Republican said on CBS’s “Face the Nation.”

“It is still the worst cover-up or incompetence I have ever observed in my life. ...” McCain added. "Somebody the other day said to me, 'Well, this is as bad as Watergate.' Nobody died in Watergate."

McCain and other Republicans, including GOP National Chairman Reince Priebus and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, pounced on the Obama administration during the Sunday talk shows after news reports came out over the weekend showing discrepancies between the White House and Defense Department over why reinforcements weren't sent to Libya after the attack on the U.S. consulate in Beghazi.

The attack killed U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said last week it was too dangerous to send troops into Libya after the U.S. compound came under attack. But White House officials said they had not denied requests from Americans in Benghazi for backup.

"Why after a cry for help to Leon Panetta and after the president gave a directive to protect those people … Panetta now claims he told the person to stand down," Priebus said on CNN's "State of the Union."

"Either the president didn’t give the directive or the president isn’t being truthful or perhaps Leon Panetta acted as commander in chief."

Senator Warner refused to say whether the drones were armed.

Thank you TC.

But don’t go scolding me alone. I took my blame already How about saying a word to this Darksheare person, how very rude it is to humiliate someone publicly like he did?

How about you do that?

He embarrassed me and I’m fighting back.

But I’m done.....don’t want to be like your husband.

Darksheare, he’s perfect.

I’m done with this....oh whatever.

You are correct. Some other admin person wouldn’t respond that the drones were armed.

That’s because they were.

Now there’s all kinds of songs and dances over those drones, how it wouldn’t have been prudent to start shooting into the crowd surrounding the embassy.

Which is nonsense, I know y’all know that.

Obama didn’t want to shoot the Muslims, that’s the short of it. The long of it is that this was one big cover up or a royal screw up.

Which is why, really, not to beat a dead horse here, but this is why having McCain come out and represent the pubs is stupid, stupid, stupid, Very few of the Republican base has any respect for the man.

How about, say, a Boehner, or Mumbles McConnell.....how about one of those guys get all over TV over this, instead of some has-been loser, a disrespected one at that?

And a whatever back, cheap wine at one’s Walmart. Darks may have gone to work, and he might come back and say “Oops,” I don’t know.

We’re all in our own bubble, one way or another. I just don’t anyone on our side to be all gripiness.

The “crowd” around the embassy was all jihadi. The jihadi had roadblocks to keep the riff raff out from what I have read.

Hey, John. How about the complete cover up of Obama’s past, and the failure of the Obama Media to vet him???

Right now as we speak, McCain is reaping what he has sown here in Arizona. All the nice things he and Jon Kyl said when approving a crypto-radical as Surgeon General (Rich Carmona) are being used in an ad by Carmona now. The ad actually makes it sound like they are backing him for the senate! Carmona was hand-picked by Obama to challenge for a Republican senate seat to replace Kyl. And they’ve both had to come out and declare that they are not supporting Carmona for Senate. Bipartisan deeds by Republicans never go unpunished. And the ad is still running, btw. I saw it again last night.

You guys should check out a poster over at Zero Hedge who goes by Million Dollar Bonus (or MDB). He comes out with these long missives and gets the newbies so worked up they’re about to blow a gasket. But he never lets anyone see behind the curtain.

As Leni so aptly referred to, Why do I want to turn on my TV on Sunday morning to have to watch Newt and Juanie cough up hairballs?

Take the ball and run with it, you tepid GOP cowards!

Sarcasm sometimes gets lost on those who live in the People’s Worker’s Paradise Socialist Republic of Nueva York.

If you meant that as sarcasm, it fell flat as I have heard those exact words from the McCain true believers.

Very few of the Republican base has any respect for the man.

That may well be, but he has some political capital with independents and ignorant Democrats. They need to hear about Benghazi from him...

The conservatives already know how they are voting.

September 17th..........The U.S. State Department is actively considering negotiations with the Egyptian government for the transfer of custody of Omar Abdel-Rahman, also known as “the Blind Sheikh,” for humanitarian and health reasons, a source close to the the Obama administration told TheBlaze.

Note: “a source close to the Obama administration”
Note: “The us state department is actively considering negotiations

This was LEAKED less than a week after the attack. WHY would the administration risk such a stupid thing during a presidential campaign, even remotely think of releasing him, let alone leak it intentionally. I now believe the kidnapping and exchange of Stevens for the sheik is the coverup.
