Thank you! So, that certainly excludes appeasement of Islamist terrorists as an excuse to blame the video and ignore the attack. You’re obviously much more informed than I....curious what you think might be the explanation?

Sadly, I don’t see any way to push this story out to the general public prior to the election without the cooperation of the media, especially since DC and NY are about to take a major weather blow.

The straightforward explanation is the best one, for now. There's no reason to indulge our fantasies in conspiracy theories until Congress holds hearings. Based on publicly available information, what appears to have happened is that Ambassador Stevens and others made requests for additional security because of a situation that was deteriorating in Libya throughout the summer. Those requests were denied.

Because of the nature of the requests, and who was involved, the requests, their nature, and the reason for their refusal would not have been confined to the State Department. Internal safeguards would have required that the security situation would have been the topic of (probably several) meetings of the National Security Council. They would almost certainly have gone into the President's daily national security briefings on more than one occasion.

The President, as a rule, has ignored most of these briefings for most of his presidency. [In recent months, it has been documented that he has skipped roughly 3/4 of his daily briefings.]

Because the claim that an al Qaeda (or multiple, al Qeada related) organizations were gaining a foothold in Libya (as they now have in several other countries throughout North Africa) would have been embarrassing to the President -- especially after his repeatedly claiming that al Qaeda was defeated -- the administration chose to cover-up the security incidents. In order to deep-six the attack on our embassy at least until after the election they made references to a youtube video which was the cause of a minor demonstration in Egypt on the same day.

In the weeks that have followed they have done everything in their power to blame first the video (for ~2 weeks) then the intelligence community (~2 days) then the State Department (~1 week) and they are now back to blaming "bad intelligence."

All of these claims have been proven to be false. Now the President is simply refusing to answer Benghazi related questions at all.

In summary: Four Americans who didn't need to die are dead, and we are still being lied to about why.
