The security officer had a laser on the target that was firing and repeatedly requested back-up support from a Specter gunship, which is commonly used by U.S. Special Operations forces to provide support to Special Operations teams on the ground involved in intense firefights. The fighting at the CIA annex went on for more than four hours — enough time for any planes based in Sigonella Air base, just 480 miles away, to arrive. Good question, however ? would a laser be placed in a static position do the job ?
Also got to take into account that the acquired target does not always stay in a static position.. so the Ex-Navy Seal had to constantly re-acquire his target.
It seems the Ex-Navy Seal did his duty in a very bad situation and paid with his life for it.

He was focusing that laser on his target for a reason and IF ? he knew there was not any air support close by there would have been no logical point to even try to acquire a target

What he KNEW was that the F-18s in Sicily were only 23 minutes out at top speed.

What he did NOT know was that his CIC was going to go to bed and leave him to die!

Thank you for those who read the linked PJ Tatler article and questioned that no NEW EVIDENCE showing an AC-130U gunship was actually on the scene.

I would think so.... I do know that the AC-130 and the A-10 Warthog are ground support airplanes.
The Warthog was developed for NATO to take out Soviet Tanks but had the added bonus to take out targets on the ground as a close ground support aircraft.

If the drone had a hellfire they could have used it. As far as permission, that is a red herring, don’t need badges and don’t need permission. As far as having hellfires, it depends on what mission for which the drones were tasked. Get the Air Tasking Order (ATO)for that day. If it isn’t on the ATO it was probably run by the CIA which really makes this stink, a CIA operator turned down by CIA air assets when in extremis. I’d be killing someone when I got back.

this started out as a bunch of muzzies and dead-enders pissed about a video to a full fledged firefight with RPGs, mortars, SAWs and small weapons fire. Too bad Obama won’t be around long enough to take responsibility.
