As you view this, recall that the Register is a Gannett rag with a somewhat left of center readership and a management that is mainstream media to its core.
Then remind yourself that Iowa is a key swing state.
Then ask yourself if the front page might indicated that the Royal Maroon is in a little bit of trouble
I don't care what you right wing nuts think ... I'm sticking with my winning message of binders, bayonets, and Big Bird!
That just about captures it; 0bama's negativity, hate, and division versus Romney's optimism, patriotism, and unity!!!
The Register barely covers Polk and Warren Counties. It once called itself the
“Newspaper Iowa Depends Upon,” but now has become a hallowed out hulk.
Any reporter with beat knowledge was laid off or encouraged to leave years ago.
The page ran yesterday.
Welcome to the party, but one front page hit pic isn't going to make up for supporting him for more than four years now.
For better or worse, we're on the same side now, because what do you think he'll do to you if he wins again? He will introduce you to your karma. Ha!
Like I said, welcome to the party...only this time it's not the communist/progressive party you've been endorsing for the last few decades.
BTTT !!
If/when he loses, will Eric Holder pick him up with the white Bronco filled with incriminating evidence... to head for the Mexican border?
His eyes show he has no soul.
You missed one - binders, bayonets, Big Bird and Biden! (Biden is a loser worth all three of the others.)
Im almost proud of my old hometown newspaper. When I was a kid in the late 1940s I had one of their newspaper routes; one summer in my teens I had my own lawn care business and Sec Taylor, then the Sports Editor for the Register, was one of my regular clients; and later, while in college I worked on the complaint desk in the circulation department. In those days the Register was generally considered to be a balanced rag with leanings to the right, but that was all before Gannett.
Obama looking back over his shoulder.
Just about says it all.
True. He is a callous and evil person (notice I didn’t say ‘man’). This traitor is an agent for Islam. “The future does not belong to those who insult the Prophet of Mohammed” is not something an AMERICAN president would say.
I was a paperboy for the Register and Tribune too. Back in the mid 70s for a year or two. I delivered the Tribune. The Register was the morning paper and the Tribune was the evening paper. They put out the paper twice a day. If you delivered the evening paper you had to also deliver the Sunday morning paper. That meant getting up at 3:00 AM and finishing your route before dawn.
Back then it was a good paper. It was locally owned and many of the articles were evenly reported. No bias. But when Gannett bought them they stopped the Tribune publication and just switched to once a day printing of the Register. That is when it took it’s liberal turn. Since that time I have considered it worthless for anything more than lining a cat box or bird cage.
It’s not worth the cost to buy it or the time to read it. If one decides to read a copy then they had better be on blood pressure meds because it will send any decent person over the edge.
This front page article might be just a anomaly where they let the truth slip out. I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting to see them do that again. I hope I am wrong, but I doubt I am.
Romney looks like a winner — actually like he’s already won. The pure evil in Hussein shows on his face. Great comparison photos.
I agree with your assessment of the selected photos but bear in mind any newspaper photog could capture and run photos that showed the exact opposite personas on the part of each. It might be a little harder to catch Romney frowning these days but not impossible. Still photos can be used to create any kind of impression as every FReeper knows. Still, it is amazing the Register chose this pair of photos to run on the front page.
