The original Constitution provides that if neither the President nor Vice President can serve, the Congress shall provide law stating who is next in line. Currently that law exists as 3 USC 19, a section of the U.S. Code. This law was established as part of the Presidential Succession Act of 1947. There, the following line of succession is provided:
Speaker of the House of Representatives
President Pro Tempore of the Senate
Secretary of State
Secretary of the Treasury
Secretary of Defense
Attorney General
Secretary of the Interior
Secretary of Agriculture
Secretary of Commerce
Secretary of Labor
Secretary of Health and Human Services
Secretary of Housing and Urban Development
Secretary of Transportation
Secretary of Energy
Secretary of Education
Secretary of Veterans Affairs
Secretary of Homeland Security
Sad for our country. Sad that so many people don’t give a crap what the truth is. America is falling into a tar pit of the universal welfare state. Put a fork in it unless MAJOR changes come soon. Those changes will likely not be coming from Romney. We need significant changes across the board.
Just how far will Americans allow themselves to fall down this rabbit hole?
I am starting to wonder.
Sickening just sickening.
So angry right now I could spit nails.
Look at the names in the administration that match up to the order of succession - pretty sickening:
John Boehner - Speaker of the House of Representatives
Daniel Inouye - President Pro Tempore of the Senate
Hillary Clinton - Secretary of State
Timothy Geithner - Secretary of the Treasury
Leon Panetta - Secretary of Defense
Eric Holder - Attorney General
Ken Salazar - Secretary of the Interior
Tom Vilsack - Secretary of Agriculture
Rebecca Blank (acting) - Secretary of Commerce
Hilda Solis - Secretary of Labor
Kathleen Sebelius - Secretary of Health and Human Services
Shaun Donovan - Secretary of Housing and Urban Development
Ray LaHood - Secretary of Transportation
Seven Chu - Secretary of Energy
Arne Duncan - Secretary of Education
Eric Shinseki - Secretary of Veterans Affairs
Janet Napolitano - Secretary of Homeland Security
