Post 21 provides Catholic teachings concerning the Mormon faith. Which inadvertently makes my point.
Look at it this way. Don’t Catholics hate the bigotry shown them by those who lack understanding?
To make my point. The Nicene Creed of the Catholic Church states that they are “the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church”. But my childhood faith taught me otherwise.
The faith of my childhood did not understand praying to saints, sprinkling instead of immersion, confession to a priest rather than to Christ in prayer and a priest offering absolution, which is Christ’s alone to give - heresy! The “joke” was: “a Catholic can do anything on Saturday night because come Sunday, a man will forgive him”.
I hold no condemnation for the Catholic faith or the Mormon faith. I did not say what I said to be ugly, but to point out that Catholics have no room to critisize what they do not understand, while asking people to understand them.
The Catholic Church has its own teachings, which I respect and admire, though the Church of my childhood believes that praying to Saints is not Christian, because Jesus said “the only way to the Father is through Me”.
My point? Not to condemn the Catholic Church at all - nor the Mormon Church.
