More to the point, e.g., the hollow point. Why would a government agency use hollow points since they are expensive and not as accurate as ball tipped ammo when used for target practice?
Of course, the .22 cal ammo is really just shade smaller than the .223 military ammo used in NATO designated as 5.56mm ammo (it is just the brass cartridge/power behind the round that is different. The point here is that NATO ammo is by law, e.g., international law under the GCs to be steel jacketed and not a mushrooming type ammo, nor should caliber larger than .50 cal or tracer/incendiary tipped rounds be directed against humans in the open directly. Rather tracers are for aiming or acquiring target distance and not the main round in the magazine.
Hollow point ammo should not be used on people and if local law enforcement is using this type round it perplexes me as to why they would do something forbidden by international agreements within our boarders, and make no mistake hollow points tear up meat when they tumble into the mass of a body of flesh and muscle.
It appears to this old soldier that their is a lot of nasty ammo out there in law enforcements hands Nationwide if it is true they are arming themselves with hollow points. Maybe the federal government needs to step in and ensure our citizens are protected to the extent that our soldiers are legally protected from being targeted by governmental employees at all levels of government from Fed to local from the recognized use (by international governments) of hollow point ammo.
The dumb asses...probably don’t have 1000 guns, let alone know where they are.
Maybe the SS administration has a new way of rejecting claims.
Must be a lot of seniors out there the jest need shootin’!
“Going postal” at the SSA by a resident drone? Oh, my!
GENEVA CONVENTION....The US Military abides by the Geneva Convention, which bans the use of hollow points. Except for the rounds that snipers use, which is normally a 168gr/175gr BTHP.
Federal law enforcement does not. Every federal agent is issued hollow point ammunition, just like every other cop in the country. However, unlike state and local law enforcement agencies, the Feds use hollow points even in training, even though its cheaper to train and qualify with FMJ. They theorize that they should shoot the same exact ammo in training as they would on the street. As if anyone, could tell the difference. Especially your average federal agent.
As for each agency having guys to do things like warrants and SWAT teams. We all agree that the expansion of these agencies and their reach is ridiculous. Me, probably more than most, as I’ve seen them in action and worked alongside some of them. But, the SSA can’t go to the FBI, US Marshals or anyone else every time they need to search a place or lock someone up. Therefore, they justify all this by saying “WE” have to be able to do this stuff ourselves. Are they a bunch of bumbling fools and Jack Bauer wannabe’s? ABSOLUTELY. I’ve seen it firsthand and have shuddered and hidden behind large objects when I worked with them.
There is alot of competition and ‘weenie measuring’ between the agencies. Each one thinking they are more elite than the other. So, if Mr. SSA Agent goes to his local FBI or US Marshals office and asks for help, he/she will more than likely get put at the back of the line. As the other agencies have “Really Really Really Important” stuff going on.
As for the 174000 rounds. Seems like a lot and it is. But 174,000 sent to 41 locations isn’t all that much when you consider how much they have to qualify, train and supply for duty.
Unless my math is way off: 174000/41 = 4244+/-. Thats not a lot.
I don’t like it anymore than anyone else. Especially since I like to shoot and try and shoot competitively. But, I’m not good enough for a sponsor and I pay my own way. The costs have gone thru the roof.
They have agents to investigate cases, and government agencies (FBI, ICE, DHS) are going in big for hollow point ammunition. This would be part of a larger government policy.
I guess the two questions to ask would be: 1) Is buying hollow points something new or a continuation of existing procurement policy? And 2) Why is ammunition that was long banned in wars between nations deemed acceptable for domestic use?
If you have not visited a Social Security office, don’t be surprised if you are searched for weapons by an armed security guard.
It’s that radical right wing Tea Party! Dern ‘em! Only they’re hard to find these days. They went largely underground after the Occupy Wall Street crowd started demonstrating. Dern ‘em! Those dad gummed Nazi flags they wuz wavin’ at those Tea Party rallies will have to be controlled! (Figments of Nazi Pelosi’s imagination.)
I’m not worried. That’s a short pallet of ammo. I and a few dozen friends have that much ourselves. I’m a community organizer.
A man has been perp-walked and arrested at the behest of our Secretary of State for violations that wouldn’t have resulted in such measures without the intervention of The State Department. His crime was exercising the right of free speech. No one has questioned the right of our government to do such a thing.
A United States Congresswoman has been ignored in her efforts to investigate the trusted aide to this same Secretary of State that has ties to the Muslim Brotherhood.
Our President and Secretary of State have been instrmental in the assassination or removal of Middle Eastern leaders after which Muslim extreme factions easily stepped into the vacancies.
Even before his election, our President wrote in his book that he would side with Muslims “if push comes to shove.” Four Americans who died without help in Benghazi to avoid upsetting Muslims is surely proof that Obama meant what he said.
A massive government takeover under the guise of a Healthcare Bill was pushed through even at the expense of our failing economy. A dumbed down, hedonistic, propogandized population produced by Hollywood and the media was ripe for the picking by a wannabe dictator and his followers.
It’s too bad that we have allowed our politicly correct, Liberal education system to rewrite or simply ignore history, especially that of the steps that lead to the utter destruction of great societies by totalitarian regimes. Otherwise, even our youth would have no doubt who Barrack Obama is, his plans for America and for whom all those bullets are intended.
From the book - “5000 Year Leap” - I quote - “The United States Government is, or ought to be, instituted for the common benefit, protection, and security of the people.....And that, when any government shall be found inadequate or contrary to these purposes, A Majority of the community hath an indubitable, inalienable, and indefeasible right to reform, alter, or abolish it, in such manner as shall be judged most conducive in the public weal. We as Citizens are obligated to remove a Unconstitutional Government - ie: Revolution.

In a completely unrelated story, 174,000 retirees are expected to become unqualified to receive benefits in 2013.
