Winds now starting to pick up here on Long Island. Just started to drizzle as well.

Have to be to work at 6:30 am tomorrow. Have my
“bad weather” route to take. Thank goodness I’m only 7 minutes away from work....that is if a tree doesn’t fall on my truck!

Granted, this storm is exceedingly large, and headed toward the highest population density in the nation. However, I don't think Floridians view this storm with morbid fascination. FL and the rest of hurricane alley are painfully aware of storm potential. We have lots of experience to compare and share.

When you talk about snow, our eyes glaze over.

"Sandy expected to bring life-threatening storm surge flooding to the mid-Atlantic coast...including Long Island Sound"

If true, I may not even be able to get to work. Our area is a high flood zone. They have been working this past year to "raise" the road. It is total chaos.

P.S.......they seemed to have "raised the road" an inch. NOT GONNA HELP since this road was once a river connected to the Long Island Sound, which is 10 feet away from it!!!

However, they did put in a round about....which NO ONE knows how to use! Thnx gubmit!!

Beware of flooded roads in the dark tomorrow morning. All the best to you through the storm. Check in when you can with local updates.

I was just outside looking where to park my truck. Unfortunately, here in the suburbs, there are nothing but trees ALL around. No safe place to park.

The town was out and about the past couple of week cutting branches and trees around the wires. Hopefully we’ll be okay.

Thanks. I have my bad weather, snow and flooding route in which I will take tomorrow.

Last time this happened, I was stuck across the street at my machinist place....could not get into our parking lot. I have NEVER in my 11 plus years working there ever seen such a thing.

Looks like this one will be worse.

Hey you(((hug)))!

Just raked all the leaves away from my front door. Last time a little flood came under my door because my drain was blocked.

I'll put some towels down to help keep out damage. Just hope my truck doesn't get damaged. There is no where to park without it sitting under a tree!

I just pray the 2 storms DON'T collide. You stay safe as well. I actually went out and purchased crappy canned foods, just in case. My pet store is closed today so I got a few cans of tuna for my 2 kitties. We have a generator at work so I could always get ready there. I thought about camping in overnight, however, I have to be home to give Mimi her daily meds. Damn cats. Can't live without them and, well, can't live without them! =)

Huntington Village, NY. It's an historical town. New York Ave was once a river, in which they turned into a road, parallel to Long Island Sound, on the North Shore.

Anytime a cloud appears in the sky, the area floods, especially the area in which I work.

I live out in the East End (Riverhead) but work in Huntington Village. I have personally seen Woodbury Rd and Prospect between High and Main Streets turn into rapids during a downpour. Stay safe!

Y’all in the northeast should pay this one some mind. I’m in tidewater VA. The storm center is the better part of 400 miles away and we’re already getting some pretty good gusts.

I agree with you. I’m 100 miles up the road from you on the Eastern Shore and the gusts have started picking up on Chincoteague. Tidal flooding was bad enough this morning and it’s only going to get worse with each new high tide because the wind is holding so much of it in.

While Philly will see a huge impact, SO WILL CONSERVATIVE WEST PA.

To be frank, this could impact PA either way....could help Romney or it could help Obama.

Also, don’t overestimate the impact of a “we will survive” presidential address by Obama after as well.

This could help Obama, though I don’t see it being a major factor.

But, who knows until people react.

Good afternoon Gabz. We’re seeing a little flooding here in tidewater. The places it normally floods. It’s going to get worse tonite at high tide and worse still tomorrow morning. We’ll see some damage...not bad... but this beastie isn’t even coming close.

Folks north of say the VA/MD line need to be in batten down the hatches mode.
