Original title: Romney's 'October surprise' WILL be released: Judge allows Mitt's secret evidence in bitter divorce of ex-Staples CEO to be made public
---------------------------
Celebrity attorney Gloria Allred has won her battle to have Mitt Romney's sworn testimony in the bitter divorce of the ex-Staples CEO released to the public - in what is claimed could provide a damaging blow to his campaign.

The Boston Globe filed the application to unseal the records and lift a gagging order on all parties involved after receiving a tip-off that there was 'juicy information about Romney' in the documents.

On Wednesday, there were claims that Romney's testimony in 1991 meant that Maureen Stemberg received a poor divorce settlement in the divorce from former Staples CEO Tom Stemberg after he said the company's stocks were 'overvalued'.

But Romney's lawyer said he would happily allow the transcripts to be released - leaving them to be left open to interpretation. The documents have yet to be seen by the press.

IIRC, Romney’s already stated that he’s fine with the release of the transcripts. He said there’s nothing incriminating or damaging there.

The gag order is the real deal, because it would allow the wife to say ANYTHING she wants, even lying, regarding the divorce trial.

I suspect their ploy was to get a load of sympathetic women see how these men cheated her out of a fortune and made her life so miserable. Living in a $5,200 per month apartment really makes me want to open my checkbook to help her!

C’mon folks.
It doesn’t matter what Romney said, or what Allred did, or that the judge is a lefty.
The thing that matters is what the news media reports that Romney said. What he said is irrelevant.
What the MSM says he said is what matters.

Wrong wrong wrong. Allred didn’t win anything. The gag rule is still in place so Allred’s d-bag client can’t yap her mouth off.

The transcript from today is hilarious with Allred’s whining, she begged the Globe to not accept only the release of transcripts since she wanted the gag order lifted more than the transcripts and even the Globe wasn’t listening to her.

Since Allred failed, you can expect her to return to her normal form and leave the client worse off than she was.

Which is what he has to say no matter what. Obviously they can't say not to release them or they look like they're hiding something. They have to say let them be released and worry about spinning it later. So we don't know if there's anything bad in there yet or not.

I would not put it past her to break the gag order. After all, a few months spent in jail for contempt is a small price to pay in order to save the anointed reign of The One.

He said the stock was “overvalued” and sold it weeks later to make a profit and this is what Gloria has?

I don’t know much about stocks but, if someone thinks the stock is overvalued then shouldn’t it be wise to sell it and make whatever profit you can?

In my state we are required to vote by mail.

Tonight, my bride and I will proudly vote for Mitt Romney, the next ‘real’ President of the United States.

Allred’s end game was the talk show tour for her client. I have no doubt that asselrod already had the woman scheduled for Leno, Letterman and The View (among others).

The 11.41 price today says that Romney could not have known the ups and downs of the price. In the last year alone, Staples has gone into the 16’s and now down into the 11’s. That’s a $5 swing in less than a year. In a 2 year time frame it suggest a $10 swing is not out of the ordinary. With a new start-up business, who the heck could begin to know with certainty??? I’d expect a person to be cautious predicting something like that.

Especially with IPO frenzies.

The 11.41 price today

By the way, the stock has split 3:2 eight times since the IPO, so one IPO share would be 25.63 shares now and worth $292.43 today.

You know, you’ve hit on something. If Obama’s people try to make this into a big deal, I think it will show desperation. But it will also remind people of someone they know.

You see, even though he’s a boy scout-type with a “storybook” marriage, Romney will benefit from our easy divorce culture, especially if the put this Stemberger woman front and center in ads or media appearances. How many guys will be reminded of their first wife? How many others will be reminded of the shrew that tortured one of their buddies on her way out of the marriage and screwed with him regularly until the kids were grown? How many women will be reminded of a friend who is still bitterly blaming all her problems on some guy she divorced years ago? Class warfare might figure in, too. Imagine the woman trying to keep her family in their home who hears she’s supposed to be all broken up because some twit got 500,000 shares of Staples when it was worth $2.50 and sold them at the wrong time, failing to add more millions to here holdings. Boo hoo!

Yeah, this is a nothingburger, and the timing indicates to me that this was probably their shot. There could still be something out there, but I think they did this at this point so that it would have a couple of weeks to rattle around in the media.

I agree that splits are wonderful things. The lady should have held onto her shares.

In any case, though, the ups and downs within a 2 year period...even a one year period...make “predicting” an uncertain business.

So, you’re telling me this lady’s stock would now be worth 140 million if she’d held onto it.

No wonder she feels stupid.

Thanks!

The way Mitt became the frontrunner was by showing people he was not even remotely like the caricature Obama had been painting all summer. The way he’ll stay the frontrunner is by showing people he’s that guy all the time, not just in debates.

Did you watch the live feed that TMZ provided? That judge was not having any of the Gloria crud! The poor Boston Globe attorney looked like he was there under threat which I am sure he was.

Gloria didn’t win. What she argued was that the gag order be lifted so she could put the “testimony in context”. Gloria actually said that without it the divorce testimony wouldn’t mean anything to the average American and they(we) deserved the context. She’s only looking out for the good of all Americans didn’t you know! She said without the order being lifted Mrs. Staples didn’t feel that she could talk about Mitt at all and her rights were being violated as she was the only person on the planet that couldn’t have a public opinion about this candidate!

Then it got good.... the judge who wasn’t buying it said that Mrs. Staples had every right to her opinion and could do so publicly. She just couldn’t say anything about her divorce. Then she said, “ Mr. Staples did it on national television at the RNC and was able to fully give on opinion on Mitt and his ability to be President without mentioning the divorce so surely Mrs. Staples could do it too! HAHAHA! Gloria didn’t know what to do with that!

The judge also mentioned that she has had 18 years to lift the gag order and the judge wasn’t about to subvert due diligence laws because the election is 12 days away.

Gloria went on then to ask Romney’s attorney if he cared if the gag order was lifted and the judge stopped her and said that Mitt wasn’t on the original contract of non-disclosure so his opinion really had no legal merit! Gloria really thought she had this one and was shut down cold! So fun to watch!

The “wild allegations” have already been made. In fact, I believe the ex-wife in this case has already violated her gag order with posts she’s made on the Huffington Puffington Post. And I believe Allread claims that Romney lied under oath when he testified that Staples stock was “overvalued”. Then a few weeks later, he and the CEO sold their shares and supposedly made a killing. The ex-wife apparently made a poor decision and didn’t time her sale right, or didn’t have an advisor, or whatever, and she lost out on a “windfall”. Does this mean that Allred has ALSO violated the gag order? In any case, I have no doubt that Romney’s testimony was truthful, but how does he combat this?

The allegation that he “lied under oath in his testimony in a divorce case and a woman suffered as a result” is out there. The lemmings who are predisposed to believe this garbage, will.
