President Obama will go on the record with MTV's Sway Calloway and Andrew Jenks this Friday, joining the network's presidential coverage with 30-minutes of questions with a live audience.
But the president insisted that a 30-minute phone call with members of the editorial board of the Des Moines Register remain off-the-record, as he sought their endorsement.
It's a common theme during this election cycle as Obama avoids the press, choosing to appear on late night comedy shows, The View, and the Daily Show with John Stewart. The president has also gone on the record with radio DJ's throughout the country.
Des Moines Register Editor Rick Green explained in a blog post he and one other member took the call, but criticized the president's insistance that the conversation remain off the record.

He wishes he was a basketball player or a singer, but only the famous kind
We’ll have to wait and see whom the Des Moines Register decided to endorse.
What ever happened to equal time for the opponent?
The Register’s endorsement doesn’t count for much.
The paper barely covers Polk and Warren Counties.
Don't expect a surprise, since they endorsed him in 2008 and behind closed doors he probably promised to be more flexible after the election!
Does Obama think it’s 1992? Or has he just exhausted all the soft interview venues and MTV is last channel standing? I’m long past the MTV age, but pretty sure it’s not watched like it was when Bill Clinton first ran.
But the good news is, he’s still trawling for the kiddie vote because the adults have already decided he’s bad for America.
Obama knows his jive-talk and ghetto double-speak goes over like a gorbasm with Chris Matthews, desperate afternoon Oprahbabes, late-night comedy addicts and the spoiled yutes of America......not so much with hardnose editors interviewing him across the fruited plain.

Another race about nothing. Well his MSM bitches continue to take this from him. They could call him out on it. Note that this is the examiner.
The debates have sapped Obama greatly. He’s not going to face any credible journalist or organization’s questions at this point.
His “goodbye tour” continues on Leno and MTV this week.
I think he's got a big gift for his shills in the MSM - and it'll break through the New York Times. That Benghazi mess - the one with more questions than answers? It's starting to look like a set up. Shortly we'll be presented with a leak that shows he and Hillary were willing to fall on their swords for the sake of the country - and that their silence and deception were all to 'save' the country. They'll be presented as heroes.
Of course the only use for a sword for either Hillary or Obama - as something to slip into an opponents back - will be overlooked in the short period between the telling and the election... Seriously, it's starting to look like a very high level scam...
But Obama is avoiding these same MSM outlets now and treating them as if they are the evil Republican FNC, and instead going on Late-night, Comedy Central, The View, MTV, etc.
That is like dissing your wife with some cheap tramp in public at the same time you need your wife's help to win. (another great analogy ???)
Pointing out that they are being dissed by Lord O himself might trigger some human emotion from them. Never hurts to try something new.
Maybe another vanity is coming.
