Mitt Romney eked out bragging rights in the latest ABC News/Washington Post tracking poll, claiming 49 percent support among likely voters vs. Barack Obamas 48 percent Romneys first numerical edge, however slight, since before the party conventions.
Slight is the word: Taking it to two decimals (for illustration only not to imply false precision), Romney has 48.51 percent support, Obama 48.44 percent about as close as it can be. Still, with rounding, Romneys 1-point numerical edge is his first since an ABC/Post poll Aug. 25.
Underscoring Obamas challenges two weeks before Election Day, his job approval rating now stands at 49 percent among likely voters, its lowest since late September (48 percent) and trouble for him to the extent that the election is a referendum on his performance. Among previous incumbents, George W. Bush dipped to 50 percent among likely voters but not lower in the fall of his successful re-election campaign.

50-45 Romney on who is better suited to handle the economy.
The “decimal point” sentence is straw grasping at its most desperate..
I don’t know how often they poll, but, step one was getting it to even. Now they should move on to what it really is, more into Gallup territory.
The partisan ratio in the methodology (at PDF) is 34% Dem. 29% Rep. 32% Ind.
They say according to their exit poll the 2008 ratio was 39% Dem. 32% Rep. 29% Ind. So they are predicting the Republican turnout in 2012 to be lower than 2008 and basing their formula on that.
Latest Intrade - O up 54.5% - yesterday it was 58.5% so he’s taken a slide in the last 24 hours.
The trend is our friend.
Its BS - maybe a 3+ Democratic advantage if you want to be generous but up 5+? This election is nowhere like 2008 even if the media would like to pretend there’s a huge groundswell of support for Obama waiting in the wings.
The communist’s (realized) dream is to divide this country down the middle and pit each side against the other; then after the election to tie it up in the court system - with Hussein declaring “possession is nine points of the law” and “no controlling legal authority” as established by the sex addict, Bill Clinton, establishing precedent - dug in at that new bunker he’s installed in the basement of the White House on our dime . . rotsa’ ruck.
Where the dream dies is over the four weeks we are just past the middle of now as Romney slips too far ahead in popular and electoral votes for that charade to be conducted.
It stinks that both parties want to satisfy 51% of the voters; imagine having someone work for 70% of us.

Thought it was significant that we have had two polls we know are from folks like this come to even two days in a row. They are heading for reality whether they like it or not.
-——not to imply false precision-——
what a load of BS. The implication is precisely what is intended. To deny the lie within the lie is to lie.
There can not be an acurate degree of precision that exceeds the precision of the input data
It will be interesting to see how they present the data if they ever get to the true margin in this poll that I think we’re at and will see on election day of five points.
I agree. The seal on the obama crime family has just been breached.
