Reminds me of the story of the trial lawyer defending an accused murder with no corpse discovered. Makes a big dramatic closing, saying, “the supposed victim is about to walk through that door [to the courtroom]!” Everybody cranes their necks to see and, of course, nobody enters. Attorney makes his point that if so many looked, there’s reasonable doubt.

Jury convicts of 1st degree murder, attorney asks foreman afterward, “What went wrong? Everybody looked toward the door!”

Foreman says: “Everybody except your client.”

This is Trump - all posture, no real substance.

I think there was also a "Matlock" episode like this.

For no particular reason, I think of that defense every once in a while, with the people turning around.

Very clever defense!
