Watch the Cronkite promo and have a laugh. But don't get complacent. The country is a lot stupider now than it was in 1980. And Mitt Romney is no Ronald Reagan.

May as well add Dan Rather with him and get a real hoot.

It’s like the Yankees are losing 10-0 early in the game and the announcers tell the audience that Arod still has 3 at-bats.

Walter Cronkite still hasn’t figured out we won the Vietnam War yet.
He’s calling the Tet Offensive a victory for North Vietnam.

Do you have a clip of Uncle Walter saying that the election is going to be a real ass kicker? Cuz that’s what I think it is going to turn out to be. And BHO will be supplying the ass.

Thanks for posting this. I was in the CBS newsroom on election night 1980 watching the same monitor as Cronkite (over his shoulder) as Jimmy Carter conceded the election (crassly prior to closing of the polls in western states thus killing down ballot Dem candidates).
My buddy's dad (RIP) was the sound-man for CBS News for decades and I was invited to be on the set on election night at the last minute.
Once Carter conceded I was ready to hang around to try to see Jerry Ford on the set being interviewed by Cronkite, but I had to rush home as I realized that I had left home so quickly I had left my dinner on the stove! Fortunately I only destroyed a pan and did not burn the house down.

I want to flip between watching the loons on MSNBC deflate (or, alternatively explode!), and the real people on FNC give factual information. I have lots of popcorn and iced tea and I'll be propped up in front of the TV all night.
I won't bother with FR that night - it always gets way too bogged down and times out. Besides, I don't want to miss a minute of the left implode/explode - Chrissy Matthews just might jump out the window!
